It's been a slow summer on the beavers. I made my Jackson County run yesterday and they are starting to reestablish new territories again. I set 4 killer traps at Woodville right out in the sun after just putting icy hot on my neck. It was a horrible experience lol. My wife drives so i had time to rehydrate by the time we got up to the head of paint rock valley on county road 4. It was not bad waded a cool mountain stream and set 2 traps in the shade. Came back to county road 33 not far from my house. Was just in the process of burying a bomb with a shovel man it was humid. I was setting up to try to film it with my phone when a thunderstorm came up and it soaked me plumb down into my boots. phone screen got wet glasses fogged up no video. I wished it would have held off 5 minutes because the video would have been quite impressive. Some people are suited for office jobs I used to do 12 hour shifts in a paper mill before i had to retire so i am used to hot miserable days. The doctor says the worst thing an old man can do its plug into a recliner so I take his advice

Dammit man. I’m all about getting outside and doing the work. That being said, that sounds like a terrible day. I’m glad you got it behind you!

Heck no, I've smoked several turkeys around that cemetery and everyone that takes care of it loves me for keeping the water down and beavers in check.

Haha, picked up more hunting rights for beaver trapping today. I've learned to love landowners with beaver problems

I'd like to also add while thinning, burning etc are important for turkeys trapping is also at the top. Im 12 plus years invested in a few properties and turkey hatches have been awesome on them all. I work at it hard but id venture to say its just as important as managing the timber and land. I know plenty of wildlife biologist that would disagree but my experience and seeing it proves otherwise. If you think opossums eat ticks and coyote trapping makes them reproduce more you probably voted for Kamala or live under a rock

Set some traps today on a place that looked Good for deer hunting. The guy was fussing about deer killing his fruit trees by rubbing them. I offered my services for free to thin them out lol. Going to put some corn and a camera out tomorrow lol

This little sucker has been traveling a few hundred yards through some nasty cutover between two ponds. Wiped out the rest of his family late this spring. Glad he's gone. Sometimes it would take him a month to show back up and stop up the culvert. Had a opossum and one coon today at my place but forgot to get a picture

Well 19 empty beaver sets is what I was hoping for. Pulled all of them which was a pretty big chore. Picked up another opossum and coon on my place and ready to start working on the coyotes and bobcats.
