I would like an INEXPENSIVE electric bike to ride ~1 mile to my hunting stand. I don't need to go 50mph, or drag a deer. Just something quiet to ride ~5 miles/day.

I do want fat tires on it.

If your place is flat, then a cheap rear hub 750w will be fine. If there are even moderate hills, you're going to hate anything less than a 1000w mid drive.

I’d find a good used one that already has the accessories like racks on it. All those little things add up.

I have a velotric nomad put over 600miles on mine mostly off-road.

It will pull the hills at our place that killed my buddies controller and motor on his quietkat bike

It’s relatively inexpensive, got plenty of torque and will go everywhere I have needed

you pay for power

if you don’t need much power, rear hub will work ( radrover)

if you need power, go with a mid drive ( too many to list, just google mid drive off-road e-bike) would suggest it has a bafang motor

Give me bout 15 more minutes, I was dreamin about beavers..........

I bought a Mongoose fat tire off of Facebook marketplace for $100 and put a 1000 watt bafang mid drive on it. Got about. $1300 tied up in it.

I have a Heybike Ranger 750W
It pulls just fine on the terrain of south Alabama and north FL.
I haven’t felt like I need more power.

I have a cheap Chinese knockoff fat tire bike that has a brand new battery ($180). I’d sell it for $200 just to get it out of my garage. It will do 20 mph on concrete or hard dirt, but not very strong on thick grass or uphill. Only issue is it has a stripped pedal that needs to be replaced. If you wanted more power, you could do like BC and convert it to bigger components

Great thread. Been trying to learn about these bikes. Been wanting to buy or build one like BC’s before turkey season next year.
