It’s about ingestion. I suppose if you’re drenched in sweat and spill some on you, and didn’t wash it off, some absorption would occur, but handling it dry won’t drop you in your tracks…as long as you wash your hands before eating.
I might need to tell the Temik story again for yall. It will put you down in seconds if there’s a catalyst to break the skin barrier.
I don’t ever want to mess with Temik.

Like mentioned earlier. NWBHC club put it out and killed some coonhounds. I told them they didn’t ask me if I wanted it to be put out so I wasn’t paying crap

Had a good friend that put that crap out on place. Killed everything around, worried him sick and took him a while to clean up the mess. Problem is it keeps on killing as long as something eats or comes in contact with if it gets into your system.

Besides all that, kill yotes however you like, Matt done told yall how to deal with them. Get caught with that temik out of prescription and it gets more real than you want it to.

Wasn’t there some studies that show yotes will fill the void pretty quick. Traveling from manny miles away to get there. Seems like there was some studies showing they’ll travel parts of 20 plus miles.

I know of some properties that trapped 20 plus coyotes every year for like 10 plus years. They just kept on coming.

They do fill the voids. Thats why you need to trap at key times. Hit them hard when fawns drop. Manipulating habitat is harder for timber leases that can’t burn or thin. So trapping is a good way to impact them. Just has to be timely.

Agreed but also getting your buck to doe ratio in a better place makes for fawn drop timing to be close together and not spread out.

if you just got to use poison go to amazon order a bag of Xylitol . mix it with what ever and give it to the coyote , takes very little . . take the rest makes pies and cakes , enjoy.

How much are you putting out. You think they’ll all come to the the one spot you put it

Let Brock explain to you how close a call it was for him.

It’s not worth playing with

ps. Duh why are there still yotes where it had been put out if it works so well???

The past couple of years I would say 3/4 of the coyotes I’ve shot have been ate up with mange. It would be awesome something like that would knock them way back.

My Pyrenees is getting too old to chase yotes now days. She did good until she ate up “Smokey” trying to snoop around my house 10:30 at night. Then she ran to town(7 miles) the next day and bit him again for good measure. Getting sued all the time ain’t worth a damn. I’ve gotten pretty good at trapping since those dogs got 2 of my calves in Clayton a few months back.

My statement was pure sarcasm. I wouldn't mess with temik, I know zero about it.

However, it only stands to reason that if you put enough temik out, you would eventually run out of coyotes to eat it.

my neighbor in Cahaba Heights was poisoning neighborhood cats with Timik . It killed him dead as hell. I'd advise not messing with Timik.

BC do you pour it over the actual trap or over the bait?

Sorry I missed the sarcasm

But I’ll reiterate my position

My friend put it for as long as I knew him. Over 20 years. He put it out several times a year during the summer. It took many years to catch on to what he was doing. He’d call and say didn’t bring your dogs down and I’ll let you know when you can. I caught him one day when pulled up to his house. He was double gloved, had a mason jar of what looked like pepper, slit hotdogs and ziplock bags. He was making his concoction and gonna toss them out on his way to his property and on his property. He covered probably several hundred acres down that road.

No matter what I usually killed coyotes that fall deer hunting and in the spring turkey hunting. Shot a few in the face that came into my calling. 4 came in one morning and I killed none.

I never saw it work as most would think it would.

Studies show that coyote reproduction can increase when populations are subject to high mortality rates, for example, due to trapping or poisoning. This phenomenon is called compensatory reproduction.
Here's why this happens:
Social Structure Disruption: Normally, in stable coyote populations, only the dominant (alpha) pair reproduces, and they regulate the pack's overall reproduction. When alpha coyotes are killed or removed, the social structure is disrupted. This can trigger subordinate coyotes, particularly younger females, to breed at earlier ages and potentially have larger litters, according to Humane World for Animals.
Increased Resources: Killing coyotes reduces competition for resources like food and territory. With more food available, the surviving coyotes, particularly those with pups, are more likely to successfully raise larger litters. This can lead to increased pup survival rates.
Immigration: Coyotes removed from an area can be quickly replaced by other coyotes, including lone or "floater" coyotes seeking new territories, according to Humane World for Animals.
While intensive control efforts can temporarily reduce populations, the resilient nature of coyotes and their ability to increase reproduction and immigration often leads to populations bouncing back quickly. A University of New Hampshire study published in Ecography found that hunting, for instance, did not reduce coyote abundance and in some cases, might have even led to an increase, possibly due to compensatory reproduction and immigration

I pour it all over the trap/dirt that’s hiding the trap. I think the smell of it lasts longer than the other baits I’ve used. They try to scratch in the dirt to find the source and they’re caught

Do you catch a lot of coyotes this way? Most trappers go to great lengths to make sure their traps are scent free and put the bait in a bait hole.

I’ve caught 6 in the last 3 months. That may not be a lot, I’ve never trapped much before. I set them out trying to catch a pack of dogs and I ended up catching those coyotes
