I heard someone did the sponge thing, and never found a sponge in yote poop.

Did they ever find any dead coyotes?

What I heard was they didn't go running all over the property looking for dead yotes, but they saw a lot less of them on camera.

Red wolves will take care of it.

I was in a hunting club in Lauderdale county that is long gone. Part of the death of this club was the poisoning of coyotes and dogs. The club was on a working cattle farm and the owner's family also had a feed store in town. Deer carcasses were disposed of in an old well. Coyotes were rough on his calves, so the owner gave the club poison, with instructions to leave deer guts outside the well with the poison sprinkled on them. It worked like a charm. Coyotes were usually dead with 15-20 feet of the gut pile.

Then the same landowner decided to lease the coon hunting rights. So guess what happened. Dead coon dogs. The landowner forced the club to split the cost to the dog owners. The guys managing the club quit. The rest of us had to come up with extra cash. The club soon was no more. It is now part of Lauderdale WMA.

All of this was illegal. It became a game of pay me, or help me pay them, or I'll turn you in. I think the name of the poison was Temik.

Temik will leave a trail of dead behind it...the coyote eats it, dies. Buzzard eats dead coyote, dead. Opossum eats dead buzzard, dead, etc, etc, etc. Our old crop consultant used it to try to control sparrows that had overpopulated his place. His 3 Goldens got in it and killed them, too.

It wasn't so much that it worked that was impressive. It was how quick it worked. The varmints in the food chain that ate it would die within sight.

Yes as well on a lab eating anything. My wife came home from work one day and I was sitting on the porch watching my lab eat a 20 oz. Mt, Dew bottle. She said are you not going to take that away from her? I said no, I'm hoping it will push the beer can she ate yesterday out.

I don't know if you've ever seen Temik, but it looks a lot like tiny seeds. It only takes a couple/few grains of it to kill a man. When I was a young chap (8 or 10y.o.), we used to scoop it out of the tub with a measuring cup to mix in each seed hopper by hand. When I left the farm at 27y.o. we had to have specialized tops on the seed hoppers that accepted the Temik Loc n Load dispensing system, so we had no contact with it, what so ever. If we ever had any for disposal, we had to dig an 8 foot hole to bury it in...tough stuff!

Temik is bad news and there is a very good reason it is very highly regulated. As clumsy as I am these days, I'd be afraid to use it. I'd be scared somehow it would touch my skin.

Trapping works but you can’t expect to see results in a few weeks

Temik is some bad chit. Friend of mine who is a farmer put some on a deer gut pile once. Came back a week later and said there were dead critters everywhere around it.

It’s about ingestion. I suppose if you’re drenched in sweat and spill some on you, and didn’t wash it off, some absorption would occur, but handling it dry won’t drop you in your tracks…as long as you wash your hands before eating.

I might need to tell the Temik story again for yall. It will put you down in seconds if there’s a catalyst to break the skin barrier.

Strychnine mixed with beef fat. Don’t over do on the poison because they will puke it up. Downfall you will kill animals you don’t want to. An old Texas rancher told me this years ago.

I don’t ever want to mess with Temik.
