From what I understand you have to make the sponge small by wrapping it tight with something like dental floss. Then the stomach acid eats the floss and the sponge expands causing a gut blockage. The coyote then dies a slow painful death. I would just rather trap and shoot em. Hey brother, I really could give two $hits about a Yote. I do trap our lease, and shoot every one on sight, but that ain't doing much. Same as pigs. But I understand your point. I know I know I’m kind of a softy. I’m not saying I wouldn’t ever do the sponge thing, but trapping them is effective, and I enjoy it when I got time to do it. I have gut shot pigs before so I didn’t have to fool with them. I guess that’s pretty much the same thing.
