Seems to me if you got to hunt one of the SOA's of your choice then take a back seat and let others who've not got to hunt in one of those premium locations get drawn... or is that asking too much ???

Where did you see the notification?

This soa stuff is a joke. I see the same people get drawn for hunts and gator tags every year and some people never get drawn. They cant plant the greenfields or keep the roads in decent shape but they can buy all this special opportunity land

Yes! Make it archery only or mz /shotgun but don’t limit the access to basically nothing ever or once in a lifetime. It’s a waste of our money. Make it open access.

I like the SOA system just like it is. No need to turn them into a WMA. Most of them are too small.

You are probably right. I have just never been drawn so I’m bitter. Maybe this year will change my mind if I get drawn.

Tags are the only way to manage the hunts without just setting and enforcing quotas. No need in weapons restrictions unless it's during specific times of the season

The very first year I entered I drew Portland Landing. Which was only 3 years ago. I might feel like you if I was never drawn.

This, all of this.

Interersting that this SOA points thing changed now that someone's not in Montgomery anymore.

it could actually be much worse. at least now there's a chance you could get drawn, based on the numbers from the first year of the program, there were 6 time more people applying than they have spots for and Im betting the number now may be more like 20x more people applying. This will mean point creep every year and no guarantee that you'll draw even when you're in the top point group. Also, if they don't change anything like allotting a percentage to random draw, it means once you've drawn or forgotten to apply one year and loose your points, you have zero chance of ever drawing again.

Like was said before, many of these are not special at all. Open them up to open access archery only and save a bunch of wasted money and wasted opportunity.
