Find someone at US steele. They gave us enough to make "The Thing". It was conveyor belt, with hand holds cut. 3 on each side. two on each end. Made to pick up Lynn in the Fairfield housing projects. Lynn couldn't walk if she got over 900 pounds. We used the thing to get her up. Carried it on top of the engine. Took at least 8, sometimes 10 to get her out and in the ambulance. She was mobile below 700 pounds. Anyway, that's were you can get some. I'm glad I never wanted to be a firemen... That sounds like the less romantic part of the job for sure.
