Anyone do this and mind sharing some pointers?

Not ready to spend a lot on equipment, but I do have 2 line counter reels on Kokanee rods that I use to troll for trout when I'm in western NC--which I've had pretty good success doing. I plan on picking up a couple Bandit 100/200/300s and seeing what happens.

WE used to take rear hooks off the old
Hellbender lures
tie a leader on and tie 1 or 2 jigs on and troll with them
caught a lot of them this way

We run crankbaits often up on the north MS lakes. As a matter of fact, I just got off the lake running them this morning. Give me a call if you want and I can point you in the right direction.

Sending you a PM

So redneck. We did it the same way.

Did yall do this to create action on the jigs? When I troll for trout I use a thing called a flasher that gives the hoochie rigs some action. Wonder if that would work for crappie or if it would scare them off? The flasher give them a side to side, fast and slow action.

Found a couple good ones mixed in with dinks today on Mitchell. About to release these two into some hot grease.

Works far better for white crappie than black crappie.

I was using Lamiglas Kokanee Tournaments (Red) just because that's what I already had. Nice action when the crank is running.

Good luck trying crankbaits in Gruntersville! Only thing you'll catch with crankbaits here is fukin eel-grass. I HATE that stuff with a passion!!
