Anyone have any success doing still hunting with bow or rifle here in Alabama. I’ve watch some videos on YouTube about it and seems like a lot of fun. If you have, any tips would be great!

Still hunting is what 99% of us do. You specifically asking if we hunt from the ground in one spot? Still hunting from an elevated blind or stand is the way most folks hunt nowadays.

I was raised you either still hunted or dog hunted. Hardly anyone dog hunts anymore

I always considered still hunting was when someone slips real slow thru the woods and stand hunting when you was stationary.

I had much rather be tried by twelve than carried to my grave by six!!!!

I've always thought 'still' hunting was slipping slowly through the woods to hunt and 'stand' hunting was to sit in the same spot to hunt.

Still hunting as I've defined it is very enjoyable... and frustrating. crazy

It's been many years since ive done it though.

I still slip around some on cold wet mornings. I have killed a few that way.

Stalk hunting is slowly slipping through the woods on foot.

Still hunting is what most of us do from a stand. Can be from the ground.

Incorrect.
However I never thought it made sense the way they define it, however Still hunting is defined as :In still hunting, you move slowly and deliberately until you spot game—before it spots you. Generally, the hunter will take a few slow, deliberate steps and then stand or squat motionless for several minutes while scanning all surrounding areas for game. Still hunting requires exact attention to details such as wind, sunlight, and weather condition.

Stalk hunting is defined as : In stalking, the game has been spotted, and the hunter slowly and deliberately maneuvers into shooting range and position for an effective shot. While stalking, you should try to move on a diagonal line, rather than directly toward the animal, since this is a less threatening movement pattern if the animal has spotted you.

This is what they teach in Hunter Education and how it is defined. And as I said before I disagree and I do agree with Matt on what is common practice.

I always thought stand hunting was sitting in one spot and still hunting was moving around.

Stalk hunting was when you saw the critter and was going for him

You doing it right you're hell of a lot more still than walking . Your 95% just standing still and looking. It's a art !!!

Frankie I’d rather be still 100% of the time.
