If Russia has not been able to beat Ukraine, then what do you suppose Russia can bring to the table to help Iran that wouldn't result in mutually assured destruction?

Read that Russia has never declared war on Ukraine. Some of the Russian officials are pushing Putin to declare war which would open up more choices of weapon systems and resources. Right now it’s only a military intrusion or something like that so what can be used is less
