I don’t remember anyone that had a written opening bid being accepted. Especially the one’s that had access. Most had 2-3 folks bidding.

Waiting to hear if I won bid I had in for a landlocked tract of land that borders my in laws farm. Think they are going to notify today or tomorrow.

I looked at a few tracts that they had posted for lease a few years ago. Most of them were landlocked with the caveat that the lesee would be responsible for securing access..

That’s a great question! I am shocked at the prices people pay for leases now.

I’ve been leasing a tract right on the Fayette
/Walker county line for the past few years. No one bids on it since it’s land locked but we own the property that has the access. Curious to see if anyone out bid us without having access. I submitted an absentee bid and that was the highest, but won’t know until later this week if I stay the high bidder. I bet someone beat my bid but has no access to the property. This happened last go around with a couple of guys from Birmingham asking for a key to our gate to get access to the state property.

Tell them no problem the key will cost ya a permit. May be the best corn feeding hunters around.

Wonder how long it will take PETA to catch wind of this and outbid everyone on every tract just to keep folks from hunting them?

Do you think PETA can keep people from hunting them by buying the hunting rights on them? They would have to continue to visit the land through out the season to keep folks off them. Maybe they would keep a presence at them but I doubt it.

Yeah.. slim chance of that happening, but stranger things have happened. Wouldn't put it past the wackos to pull a stunt like that.

I wonder if that sumbitch that leased the 80ac in Shelby Co for $130/AC needs any friends because somebody CLEARLY got more money than sense and I’ll be glad to help him spend it.

Wonder where the dekalb land was at, I might have bid on that since I'm local!

Love a good hunting story, love my family and friends. Some people you can't, but acted like do.

To each their own, but that amount would literally make a land payment.

Looks like I’m keeping our little spot for another 5 years. No other bidders but me. The price per acre on some of these places were absolutely insane. Places just down the road went for $28 an acre. That was full access land. Mine had no public access, but we own the land in front. Worked out in the end.
