Rules say he has to wear it That’s crazy. My son played 6U all stars in Cal Ripken about 19 years ago. I don’t remember them wearing gear but they probably did. I guess if they get tight to the batter maybe he would get hit from back swing or a slung bat.

The level some of these 6u teams play at is pretty impressive you’d be surprised at what a good catcher can do for you in these little tournaments.
