Serious question, where is there a forest that has been destroyed by acid rain? Most have recovered now, but there was a time when quite a few places in the Smokies were threatened. I thought that acid rain/too much auto exhaust killing trees in GSMNP was debunked . I remember a report came out that foresters determined the timber had reached full maturity and was dying naturally . Well... My main point was... I did my part I either designed or had a hand in almost every single air pollution control system, Flue Gas Desulfurization Systems, Electrostatic Precipitators, Fabric Filters, Selective Catalytic Reducers, Jet Bubble Reactors, etc... The power company didn't build any of those to make money, we built them - and engineered them in house - because of governmental regulations handed down to us, and because we all sincerely thought we were doing the right thing. I know this because we lived it and we were all passionate about it. Southern Company's plants are among the cleanest in the world, and I'm proud of that. If we didn't have electricity we would literally be back in the 1800's. Without A/C... In the south... Yet what's funny is that people pay more for their cell phones and internet than they do power, but the thing they gripe about is their power bill.
