Serious question, where is there a forest that has been destroyed by acid rain? Most have recovered now, but there was a time when quite a few places in the Smokies were threatened. Talladega NF and the Chattahoochee-Oconee NF's in Georgia were hit really hard in the 50's-70's. They mostly have recovered now but several pocket areas like hollers where smog accumulated got killed flat. Then rain erosion set in and carved big gullies down the west side of the hills. I did a study that included a section on that kind of erosion in the hills.
