I said maybe you need a break and would you like to come over for dinner? She accepted. I grill steaks. Nice salad. Baked potatoes. And a big apple pie for dessert. After dinner we watch a movie(American Pie). We laughed our ass off. After that night we never spent a night apart. 4 months later we were married. That was 2013. I was 50 and she was 38. In 2015 the little monster arrived. Our son. Did I want kids. Hell no. Best part about this is I got to help raise her kids. Great kids. All have degrees and making good money. Now it’s just me and momma and the 9 year old at home. His little ass keeps me busy. Yea I don’t understand why folks don’t get married anymore. Commitment? Scared? Being faithful?

You ain't them.

I've noticed that church attendance correlates with desperation. When things get bad - really bad - people suddenly become very pious and faithful. What does it say about the church that the divorce rate among church goers is the same as the ones that don’t go to church.

It tells me that it isn’t about going to church. It’s about the action taken on what the church and Bible are offering.

Why do you think we - the first world countries - are in population decline?

We went through 3 generations now of 2-3 kids per married couple. For population to increase the rate needs to be a minimum of 4-5 or more kids per married couple. Our non-agricultural society does not support 4 or more kids per household anymore.

I agree.. that too.

Everyone wants to blame the the Chinese and their "one child policy" on their population decline, but the main culprit is the transformation of China from an agrarian society to a society that works in factories building shit.

When you have a farm like my granddad did, you want/need lots of kids to help out on the farm. They are free labor. So they had 10 kids.

My Dad was a draftsman and my mom was a cosmetologist. Any kids they had needed to be clothed, fed, schooled, sports, etc... So they had two.

(Actually the reason was, I such an awesome kid, my parents figured they couldn't top me, so they quit havin' babies.)

Because we/us accept it. If we told our kids if you live with him/her don’t come around here get married. It’s like the female-female male-male inter-racial crap. We see it and it’s ok???? My parents and grandparents would not have it. Times have changed for some folks.

How many men and women can’t have baby’s these days? Seems to be more of a thing than it used to be. Course it could be the way information is spread now but most everyone had baby’s a decade or so ago.

Testosterone levels are lower in young men today than they were in men 30-40 years ago. Sperm counts are lower on average too. Meanwhile, women are starting birth control almost as soon as they start their first cycle these days. Back in the 80's they wouldn't start birth control until after a couple of years of cycles or maybe not start any birth control at all. Now its the majority. As a result, many women are finding out in their 30's that they cant have kids because they started birth control so early.

It's a variety of reasons

Aggressive women
Boss Babe demeanors
I'm 43 and all my life growing up the TV was sending a message to all women that they don't need men. It's created a stigma like it's insulting to be a housewife these days.

Women had rather work a job just to spend their paycheck on a new car, excessive size house and vacations. They rather Invest into those material things rather than their children and household. Now both parents work and are gone from home all day just to rush home, feed little Johnny McDonald's, dump him at school and repeat. The house is neglected. The kids are neglected.

That's why I divorced after 7yrs. If she doesn't want to stay at home to run the house and cook then I don't need her. She is dragging me down at that point. I kept the kid and fired her.

Women know once you get them pregnant the man is at her mercy. She uses the kid as black mail. I have friends that are married with multiple kids. Their wives got bored and wanted bigger houses. Instead of the man putting his foot down, they sold their nice house and bought whatever the wife wants to keep her happy to avoid divorce. Men don't wear the pants anymore these days because the woman knows the government will reward her. She can cheat, act mean, make bad investments and you either have to take it or divorce and lose everything.

I will never get married again. Marrying these days is the worst thing a man can do to himself.

Not to mention that everything is expensive as hell.

Everywhere a woman turns is a thirsty man trying to holler at her. It's not worth it to me anymore. If they don't want to stay at home and cook then I don't need one.

Some factors I’ve thought about:

- birth control can have strong effects on women’s moods. I’m not saying all, but some can be much more combative, anxious and resentful

- a long time ago, a men needed high/decent testosterone to secure resources, fend off threats, be driven to succeed, etc … and thus be a candidate to women to breed with and pass along genes

In an industrialized society this need for higher testosterone is not as necessary for basic survival, thus, not as needed to breed with. Actually, women - some in a state of mind affected by birth control medication, and ‘modern thinking’, probably actually select against higher testosterone levels when choosing mates.

Men aren’t standing up and leading their lives nor others around them like they really should be. For a variety of reasons.

The average man born is not who he used to be. Probably not the average woman either. Now take away God. Now add environmental factors (chemicals we eat, drink, inhale). Now add the effect of technology devices (like the one I’m typing on and need to put down), and the effects on young brains.

Stir all that up together, and yeah, we have problems in how young adults interact and attempt to raise children. We are probably 3 generations deep into this new model.

We are in a mess. Lord please help us.

Yep, marriage is a biblical thing, therefore the government should be completely abstract from it. No marriage license to get married, no change in tax status'. I believe more people would marry these days if the government were removed from the equation.

Daddy has a job which would reduce food stamps and rent subsidies. Momma gets more back at tax time.

The average marriage last 7 years. With no fault divorce or social stigma, getting married is the second best financial decision a woman can make with getting divorced being the first. There's a reason more single women own homes than single men. I worked in family law for a few years and hated it. There is a entire wedding planner-family law industrial complex. I really can't blame a young man. It's just inviting the government into your home life. The people that "co-parented" the best never got married and never had to fight it out in court.

Anyone not preparing for divorce on their wedding day is as naive as someone going to casino as a retirement plan
The house always wins.
