OK, I can't find the old thread. But the squirrels are getting too comfortable around my property. Before they get my garden, I'm gonna take steps to solve the issue.
I posted about air rifles a while back and can't find it now. I'm looking at the Beeman Commander 1518 – .22 Caliber Air Rifle over the break barrel types.
I'm really flexible. Pros and Cons are welcome. But I'm pulling the trigger in the next two days to reduce the pest issues. I've always respected Beeman. I've had issues with break barrels in the past for accuracy and reliability. But I'm also wide open on this.

I am drawn the ones with multi shot cartridges and hand pumps. I want to pick it up, roll to my shot and take it.

I was really into pellet rifles a few years ago. The Gamo Urban would work for you. https://www.airgundepot.com/gamo-urban.htmlI have one and it's very accurate.

I own a gamo break barrel and it is absolute junk for accuracy Most Gamo break barrel rifles are a luck of the draw on accuracy. The Gamo Urban is made at a BSA factory in England. BSA barrels are well known for their accuracy.

22 rifle with cb ammo if quiet is what you want

Go with .25 caliber. PCP if you can. Benjamin Marauder will be the cheapest and accurate.

I rebuilt the one I had when I was a kid. I killed many a squirel with that joker. I have a later model that I put a peep site on and that is a chipmunk killing machine. You can hear the pop when that .20 pellet hits them little suckers.

For those suggesting 22lr or shotgun. I'm in the heart of Hoover and that would float like a lead turd. Otherwise it would already be taken care of. Probably with the .17hmr.

A CB cap is pretty quiet if you can find them. Less noise than my pellet gun.

I’ve got the Gamo Whisper. I’ve had no problems with it but should have gotten the .22 caliber for a little more umph. I’ve killed seven one day during squirrel season. Haven’t had any “sound” problems yet.
