I'm a filet and fry guy. I don't understand how yall pick the meat from those whole fried fish. Seems like a lot of work for such a little meat when I can just eat the whole boneless filet in one bite. I like them filleted too, but they don't taste the same as one fried whole. There's definitely a skill to eating a whole one, and my wife and kids never would try to develop it. I learned to eat whole bream at a very young age because my 2 options were to learn or go hungry. I had an uncle who called bream "Sunday fish." He said he could only eat them on Sunday when he had plenty of time to pick out the bones. A 2 lb catfish was a "During the week fish." The uncle has been gone for 30 years, but several in my family still talk about Sunday fish and during the week fish.

All the labor of man is for his mouth, and yet the appetite is not filled.
