Im not sure what they are calling "Mummified". The article I read mentioned cold dry Mountain air preventing bacteria growth to allow a process similar but thats BS. Anyone who studies forensics and specifically Time of Death knows that the microorganisms inside the body in stage 2 decomposition cause bloat. Essentially the bacteria in our digestive system and others that help us digest food start to eat us without the immune responses. This releases gasses which cause bloat. Eventually there is leakage and rupture and then stage 3 or Active decay. Does temp and humidity effect the process = absolutely. If they were not showing bloat they have not been there that long, maybe 5-7 days max.

From what I gathered, mummified essentially means "dehydrated" in this case.

Report says they were both negative for carbon monoxide, cause of death still unknown.
