I agree, it should include ALL of the WMA’s in the state and have been the first 14 days. They are also going to make you buy a full season license, not just the 10 day so that adds another $100 to their trip. It sets a horrible precedent that other states will take notice of. Who knows what all states may try something similar on down the road if this passes. The best course of action would have been a non-resident draw, like MS has. Well, you can thank the YouTubers for it!!!

And I don’t have a problem with it if states do it. Residents should get preference over non residents and I say this as a traveling turkey hunter who has done it every year for 15 years.

Oh, I agree 100% that states should take care of their residents first and foremost! I've been applying for FL quota permits since 2007. I do a FOIA yearly to get the draw application/award data. It's pretty sad to see places like FEC have half the drawn permits for the first hunt go to non-rez. I fully support the 10% NR cap on quota permits even though its going to ruin the tradition of me and my father being able to make a Florida hunt every 2-3 years. He drew a good permit this year and at 78 years old, it could very well be his last trip. All that being said, totally excluding non-residents from Federally Owned public lands for the 9 days is a bit excessive.

States sided with bad, unproven science - and with everybody’s new tv stars by
- delaying seasons - lowering limits - restricting access to public lands - lowering limits on individual public lands - delaying seasons further on public lands than private
I mean - they are truly taking care of residents and looking out for the future of wild turkey. Just ask them.

We need to careful pitting states against each other with non resident regulations. It’s a slippery slope.

We need to careful pitting states against each other with non resident regulations. It’s a slippery slope. I’ve always said this. A state with good turkey hunting blocks non residents let’s say from Louisiana from hunting, Louisiana could and should block those non residents from being able to come hunt and fish here. Especially the fishing part. You have to be careful what you wish for.

Florida should ban OOS from going to their beaches. It’s gotten ridiculous trying to find a spot on the beach

And Arkansas should ban all non residents from duck hunting. They trying to especially public land. I enjoyed arkie back before national refuges came along. We hunted public ground and had absolutely no problems. The cache and white went federal and the asses showed up.

At first, being a die-hard turkey hunter who always wanted to improve, I religiously watched the PP hunts. However, several years later, it's clear to see what PP and other similar guys who profit from a resource we (as taxpayers) provide have done to hunting in Alabama. As such, I've watched my last videos from Pinhoti Project, Hunting Public, etc.

Well, no more non-resident hunting PERIOD on five Florida WMAs for the first nine calendar days of the season. This includes the non-quota portion of Big Cypress.
This is one for the books, boys. Expect other states to take notice.

It passed and will take effect in 2026. The YouTubers got nobody to blame but themselves. Florida won’t be the only state doing it either.

Loose lips sink ships. And this is the beginning….. Mississippi/ Kansas/ black hills/ Florida dropping the hammer with draws and bans. Other states moving seasons back and lowering limits on public lands. Not to mention price increases. Other states will follow suit and turkey hunters lose

This is a turn in the direction of shutting this mass influx of “turkey hunters” bullcrap down. I couldn’t agree more I don’t believe. Sucks it has to happen, but evidently some states refuse to let turkeys go in the way that ducks have gone. I’ve been drawn for a county in Illinois this year and plan to go kill 1 or 2. If they sent me my money back and told me I wasn’t welcome, I couldn’t blame them. The massive amounts of decoy spreadin, blind sittin, bait killin, Fakebook/instachit/youtube sobs in the last 10 years has honestly driven far too many folks off that actually care about the sport and animal. It’s has become something that’s an internet/social goal, rather than just a good hunt with a friend or family member. Good for you Florida.
This is Aldeer! The place people come to vent their frustrations and completely change their stance a few minutes later...

Ole Dave will just chum up with someone with private ground in Florida that likes nuts on their chin. And keep on doing what he’s doing.
He just screwed himself. And I bet it doesn’t even feel good.
