What was it that Biden and his bunch said about all the oil field, and pipeline boys when he cut em loose? “You can find new careers.”
Don’t see much difference in all these government job cut folks….

I think a lot of this stuff is happening too fast with ZERO information on which jobs are crucial and which are expendable. There's no way they did any studies efficiently. "IF" they start dicking with VA health care without explanations it's gonna rub a lot of vets the wrong way being they depend on it AND it's already short staffed. Appointments are often a long way out and a lot are done via zoom. If they're gonna cancel services and replace them with better options, the options should be presented before the other mess is implemented.

Lots of federal wildland firefighters, wildlife biologists and foresters have been cut. Hard to find careers in those fields. Wish there was more oversight on who’s getting cut.

I agree, and thought they’d have better sense than messing with our veterans health care system… I was more less referring to the high end good for nothing government “spots”… figured they’d at least use some brains about the cuts…

I wonder WHO is actually making the cuts. Is it some folks that despise the Trump administration and are cutting the wrong folks to shake things up and get folks pissed off at Trump? I dunno, but I wouldn't put it past them

They are serious. My BIL is management for forest service and go a call Friday to drive to the office in a snowstorm and fire two of his employees that day.

Seems to have been a numbers game to look good and not a laid out plan with solutions. The new head of SSA already came out and said those numbers of those deceased and being paid were wrong when released to the public.
They need to slow down and nail issues down with more oversight like you mentioned.

Simply firing people will do nothing to lower spending. And may actually cost more when those people are In The unemployment line. Not everyone is paid from the same pool of money. Checks come from the accounts within the departments. If the budget is not cut, the money still gets spent, just not to the people that lost their job. This is a backwards approach to cutting spending. BUDGETS have to be cut to do anything. That will probably come later, but again it is backwards.
For spending cuts to work, we have to look at each expenditure and see what cuts need to be made. When departments have less money they will have to be the ones to decide how the cuts are made.

Did they close the va hospitals or are you just saying something out of context to make it seem like something bad is going on?

My friend is a VA doc and he is getting ready to retire this summer but hadn't submitted his paperwork yet. He wanted to take the government offer to retire early but was told the VA was not included in this offer and he was ineligible due to the VA being short staffed already.

Only firings I have seen have been with folks who were hired and still on probation.

The lies and misinformation being spread about what's happening isn't just coming from the left. There are plenty of Republicans who've fallen to the narrative and are repeating their talking points. It seems no matter how much good is being done that there will always be a segment of Republicans who can't stand to see things cut no matter how bad it needs to happen.

Right, but people have had 10-20 years of service are being cut loose because they took a promotion. Any time you accept a promotion or new job title you’re placed on probation. These are not new hires. A heck of a lot of them have lost everything they’ve worked hard for simply due to them being in a probationary time period.

I saw Elon discussing that they expected some errors to be made and these would be reported when they realized there was a mistake made. Perhaps those who were probationary due to promotion will be reconsidered. Or maybe they will be able to return to their previous level without the promotion. But Elon/DOGE are Not the ones firing anyone. That would be up to the Cabinet Secretaries.

If I was fired due to being on probation due to a promotion I would be calling my Senator's and Congressman's offices.

Well, lemme just say its more in line with what Kodiak is saying...Not so much cutting of the nurses or doctors unless their on probation.

Aint no senator or congressman going to speak out against the doge; that would be the end of their careers, which is what all politicians care about.
