How does Social Security work when someone drawing it passes away? Is the SS administration notified when the Death Certificate is issued? Yes, I know this first hand. Funeral directors are required to report deaths. The SSA will not only stop payment, they will withdraw funds for the remaining days of the month after death if payment was already deposited into the account. You can bet they ain’t gonna over pay… sorry basstages
