It wasn't Will Primos himself, but a member of the Congressional Sportsmen's Caucus on behalf of Will Primos. I could not believe what I was hearing as I watched it. Basically, in Mississippi, it is legal to bait ("supplemental feed") deer during turkey season. But it is ILLEGAL to hunt turkey influenced by bait. So basically if you choose to bait deer during turkey season, and turkey are influenced by that bait, you legally can't hunt that area.

Now rather than ask for supplemental feeding to be banned during turkey season, which would make BY FAR the most sense, they asked for a "distance requirement from feeder" like Florida has. Where you can bait but have to be 100 yards from the feeder. A rule such as this would effectively cause the mass majority of private property in Mississippi to start baiting turkeys. Disgusting.

There is obviously more to the situation. If it was such a concern for Will Primos, why didn't Will Primos show up himself to the commission meeting? I know it sure wouldn't be a good look for him if he said this stuff himself. I reckon thats why it got routed through the CSC. I just can't wrap my mind around WHY a turkey lover would ask for a distance requirement rather than the elimination of baiting during turkey season. What the heck?!
