You’re in an area with an early-mid January rut. Buck Age structure is most likely badly out of whack and most likely there are not enough bucks to breed all the does in their first cycle. The rut will last until the last does are bred. Bucks are now greatly expanding their ranges and roaming all over the country looking for those unbred does coming into their second or third cycles. Happens all over most of Alabama and will continue until that smell is no longer in the air. It’s pretty much a statewide situation and is very detrimental to the entire herd. Especially the buck population. .
