I do, and it’s probably more restraining than most everyone on this board. My job is 12 hours of staring at countless monitors and responding to real time system changes. I’m not supposed to be away from my desk for more than 5 minutes at a time. On day shifts, I have a partner that can cover the desk to allow a little longer break, but on nights and weekends, I’m the Lone Ranger. That part sucks, but the plus side is I have the best schedule known to man.
It’s funny how career paths change over time. The first half of my working life I spent in the woods, now I’m anchored to a desk all day (or night). What kind of schedule makes that worth it? We have 6 crews and work a 6 week roll. We work 14 shifts, 7 days and 7 nights, every 6 weeks. Worth it. There is some required training and potential call-ins too, but it’s minimal.

Sounds a lot like my days in the Data Center world. I had an extra 80something days off a year that the standard schedule i worked prior to that. There are pros and cons to it, but goodness I hunted, fished and played golf more that ever in those 4 years.

I am in an office all day every day now. Used to be a steelworker. Sweated my arse off in the Summer and froze it off in the winter. Now I sit in an air conditioned and heated office. During my lunch hour and when I'm not busy, I watch movies and TV shows on my tablet. I park in a covered parking garage and don't have to even get wet when it rains when I arrive or depart from work. Have no problem with being tied to an office. It beats a lot of the work I've had to do over the years.

I have one, although it covered different area's. I manage the finances, facilties and IT. So I do get to do more than sit at a desk and stare at a computer all day. Now I am working on writing some policies, both for HR and Facilities.
What I don't like is a bunch of meetings. That to me is time I could be spending accomplishing something. You just need to get up and move around some. Get a fitbit, it will prompt you to get up and move.

I know it’s off topic but when covid forced people in the corporate world to work from home, a customer of mine bought three small storage sheds, finished, furnished them and bought a few small quilt generators. Hunting and working at the same time was so good, he did a few more the next year.

I'm inside sales for a lumber company so I'm in the office all day. I've reached an age where I don't miss the cold, rainy, or hot days outside.

Bad mouth an office job if you want but it’s mighty nice being cool in the summer and warm in the winter. I see those guys on roofs or on paving crews in the summer and think how lucky I am to working inside. Bet if you asked them about mid-August what they’d rather be doing you get the same answer.

I'm in the IT consulting industry. I've worked out of my home office since around 2008 I think, with part time traveling up until around 2012 or so. Been self employed since 2017. I love the freedom of making my own schedule and working from home. But I'm so over my career, really want to start something new but I'm in that old dog/new trick stage of my life unfortunately and would be hard to start over from a salary stand point.

Cube monkey here, that is when I’m not working from home or from a client’s office location (which is about 25-35% of the time)
It’s not too bad as long as you’re regularly getting up to stretch the legs and relax the eyes

Been at a desk starring at 2 computer monitors pretty much every day for 10 years now. Most days I'd rather be outside, but when it's storming, 100° or 10° it's nice to be able to work comfortably inside and know that the paycheck will arrive on time. I'd rather have an outside job working for myself and be able to make enough money to cover the year in about 8-9 month and not have to work in the winter. But, here I am..... We're all just slaves to the financial system.
