Who has one? I mean truly tied to a desk all day? I’m in construction sales/estimating so I’m out on the go all the time then spend probably one full day a week at a desk and work on a laptop from my truck other than that. I’ve been running around today trying to handle some business with this property purchase and sitting in people’s offices. I don’t see how they do it all day long. It drove me crazy if I was there over 30 minutes.
If voting made any difference, they wouldn’t let us do it.-Mark Twain

Here...software sales in the construction industry. But I work from home 4 days/week and go in the office 1 day/week.
I could probably make more if I was willing to take an outside sales job, either local or traveling, but with a 13yo and 11yo, being home 4 days a week is great. I usually get my yard work done during lunch 1 or 2 days during the week and I don't have to spend an hour and a half of my day commuting.
It's also nice in the summer to be able to have the boat already hooked up so when I log off for the day, I can stand up from my desk and be on the water in 10 minutes.
I don't love my job and there are days where I want to bail, but it certainly allows me to provide the lifestyle I want for my family and myself, and that's all that really matters

I’m in the office probably 80% and field 20% of the time, but that depends on the day. Sometimes it’s reversed and sometimes it’s 100% office. I’d love to spend more time in the field, but the documentation is ever increasing. HSEQ Manager.

Just get up and walk around every hour, or so. I sat in a chair looking at two computer screens for 12 years.

Not necessarily an "office job" but I am sitting in front of 20 computer monitors every day/night making sure to keep the lights and air conditioners on for everybody

I do, and it’s probably more restraining than most everyone on this board. My job is 12 hours of staring at countless monitors and responding to real time system changes. I’m not supposed to be away from my desk for more than 5 minutes at a time. On day shifts, I have a partner that can cover the desk to allow a little longer break, but on nights and weekends, I’m the Lone Ranger. That part sucks, but the plus side is I have the best schedule known to man.
It’s funny how career paths change over time. The first half of my working life I spent in the woods, now I’m anchored to a desk all day (or night).

Bad mouth an office job if you want but it’s mighty nice being cool in the summer and warm in the winter. I see those guys on roofs or on paving crews in the summer and think how lucky I am to be working inside. Bet if you asked them about mid-August what they’d rather be doing you’d get the same answer.
