Which Viper?
The new HD model is a step up IMO and better than the VX-3
The HST and other models, edge to the VX-3 All of my Vipers are 7+ years old, so definitely the older version that Vortex manufactured. Just get you an Accupoint and call it a day. It’s better than both of the others mentioned. Hard to beat the 3-9, green dot duplex for the $.

If i make any money farming this year, i think im gona buy me a new deer rifle, maybe one of them Abolts yall like so much and a vx3hd with the illuminated dot. Im going to try to refrain from buying guns until then. I got a little out of hand this last year.

I've got Leupolds, Nikons, Burris, Bushnell and Meopta scopes. I think the 30mm tube's are better at low light but that could just be my perception. I do know fir sure that the Meopta Meostar R1 is the best one (that I own) for low light. It's the R1 30mm tube, 50mm objective. You missed a good deal on a meopta a few weeks ago. Inatree let one go pretty cheap

I think youll love the accupoint. The illuminated dot is a game changer at low light. Go somewhere and look through one. I think i paid $700 for it. Thats the most i ever paid for a scope. I certainly dont regret it. Ive bought several vipers for $300 or so. Thats your best money. But that glowing dot is absolutely worth the price increase

I have 4-5 Vipers, all less than 5 years old. This year I got a VX3 HD. I tested them one afternoon. Both would do just fine to the end of legal light. But the VX3 HD was definitely brighter. I can get the Vipers for about half the price as the VX3, but it'll be hard not to spend the extra money in the future.
