I let my target buck walk a few weeks ago. It was at the end of legal and his body looked 3. At least he is still alive!

We don't feed during the season but the day after we begin feeding protein pellets to help them recover from the rut.

Most hunters suffer a completely different result during this time of year. If you took a picture of me the day before Thanksgiving and one now, I've added done the opposite of these deer. Added pounds and big bags under my eyes. Holiday eating followed by 10 nights at the hunting camp during January/Feb ain't doing a favor for my overall health.

1bamashooter, thats a mess of a deer. Full grown. I would hate to have to drag him up on a tailgate by myself

These aren’t busted up. They’re straight up shedding.

Oh

That’s one reason among several I’m adamantly opposed to a Feb extension up here. It’s ridiculous. Our bucks are back to being little pencil-necked starving shed heads and still have days to kill them. It’s one of the most irresponsible management decisions made by a state agency in decades.

I saved this comparison because it blows my mind and i'll likely share it with others in the future. That before pic doesn't even look like a southeast deer!
