Yeah that worked out well for him. Lost to two unranked teams and got prison shanked by a 7-5 Michigan team that was at 40% strength at best personnel wise and were one dimensional because their starting QB got hurt early.

Look……. Milroe was the majority of the problem. The O Line play probably exacerbated that some, but the bottom line is Milroe was just bad. Great athlete but it was apparent he didn’t have it upstairs to effectively play the position.

I tell you what……. I will relent that opinion if he does well in the NFL at the QB position but I won’t hold my breath for that to happen.

Milroe had an interview this week with Pro Football Talk, and they asked him about potentially trying different positions.

"You never ask a zebra to be a dog," Milroe replied.

In response to Pwyses comment about the coaches choosing him. A lot more goes into that decision than just who is the best QB. Deboer watched that exact same team completely lay down in protest, the previous season when Saban tried to bench him. Every time something came out about Milroe not getting the job done this year, and Deboer possibly moving in another direction at QB, all his LANK brothers ran out and did interviews telling the press that they had Milroe’s back and he was the starter and their guy. That sent a not so subtle message to newbie Deboer. Deboer knew exactly what would happen, chemistry wise, if he tried to replace Milroe with Mack or Simpson and he wasn’t willing to pay that price. Not only that but the NIL money going to Milroe had to be considered, as well as all the press idiotically saying that Milroe had the heisman locked up and pushing him as a great QB. Deboer benches Milroe and half the fans go crazy calling for his head because they, like a lot of people on here, we’re fooled by all the hype and an occasional spectacular play, once every couple games. Deboer is smart enough to see and know all this and no new coach, that wants to keep his job, is willing to rock the boat that hard in his first season.

No, it’s spot on. He was in a no win situation. If I was Deboer, when spring training rolls around this year, I’d throw every MF’er that showed up with anything with the words “LANK” on it off the team.

Yep CNC, that's exactly what you are full of, in most everything you say and post. Nothing but a buncha horsechitt.

Exactly. The whole LANK thing and it's members, led by Milroe, were a cancer on the team, both Saban's last year and this past first year for Deboer. The inmates ran the asylum. They felt there was strength and the ability to control situations, in numbers, and they were proven correct. If I was Deboer, I'd make sure that the numbers were whittled down to the point where I as the coach could fully control the team and every player on it. Last two years, it was a "mind over matter" situation. The players didnt mind, because the coaches no longer mattered. NIL and the transfer portal are the two worst things to ever happen to college football.

Like I said, if the o line plays as terrible as they did this year, and the QB plays exceptionally well in spite of them, I don’t have one bit of a problem saying I was wrong.

Milroe not doing well in the NFL doesn’t prove what I’ve been saying wrong at all. I’ve said all along he is a really good QB. If he used correctly in the right system I think he could be a great one.

For Bama’s sake I hope I am very wrong. From what I understand they are returning a lot of starters upfront. Maybe their issue was due to it being the first year in the system, but I doubt it. It looks more like a talent issue to me.

Yep......if the o-line doesnt improve then it'll look even uglier with a less athletic QB with no experience trying to step in

That's the politically correct version that they claimed it stands for, when they got the LANK collective approved, but everyone knows what it really stands for.

Not only happened to Saban in his last year, it happened to Saban in his first year. This is why he left.

The test of DeBoer will be if he owns the team this year as Saban did in year two.

And I’m sure there are a million other reasons as to why you aren’t Deboer.
