Short barrel and a light can is the ticket. I hunt with an 18" barrel Bergara .308 and a Silencerco Omega 300. I opted to remove the QD attachment/QD muzzle device on gun/extended muzzle brake on end of can and went with a direct thread mount and flat end cap to shave as much weight and length from it as possible.
