Got a buck yesterday that had been shot with a bow on top of the back. Cut was little over an inch all the way across the back. When skinned the backstrap had pus around the cut. Meat smells fine. Hate to waste the meat but if it should be tossed then so be it. Thoughts?

Two roads diverged in the woods and I took the one with deep ruts, hills and mud.It may be bumpy but WHAT A RIDE!

I'd say cut the bad out and be fine. At least the back legs

Except for that area, the rest should be fine.

I had the same thing happen a few times. Once a broadhead in a Backstrap. I cut out and threw away 6-8" of it. The rest was fine. Killed a deer with a puss pocket in his ham this season. Threw that muscle away and kept the rest. If it smells fine and I can cut out the bad spot, I'm not throwing it away.

Been doing it for 50 years.Nearly every year around this time bucks will have wounds from fights.Cut the chit out and go to grinding. You open one up with infection spread throughout his body, you’ll know…
