It has always blown my mind. If I suggested we make normal everyday stuff more restrictive, yall would have a cow. but when it comes to hunting yall want it to cost more and have more rules. I have never understood that.

Would yall support increasing taxes or making building codes more expensive or pretty much increasing the size of ANY state program? Explain to me why that notion changes when it comes to hunting.

We already have rules to stop deer from going extinct. We are talking about changing current rules, not making restrictions to begin with

For many years, you could shoot as many bucks as you wanted during a deer season and we limited does. Deer didnt go extinct then.

I'd like to see hunting banned completely. That would make hunting much better.
Take a kid golfing!

My #1 issue would be eliminating the 10 day Feb extension for zone A.
I’d issue buck tags (3).

I'm not big on much to do with government regulations but here's what I think would help our deer quality in Alabama. Doe harvests figured from county to county and not zones. 2 buck limit. Physical tags instead of the app that nobody uses..

I would shut deer season down completely for 2 years in the hopes all of the complainers would realize how good they have it and maybe not complain as much when it opened back up. Naaahhhh........they would still complain.

In our form of constitutional government, fundamental rights are supposed to be protected from the whims of those who wish to unnecessarily restrict them.

Rights such as freedom of speech, our right to bear arms, ... rights that are listed by name in our constitutions. Our right to hunt is listed in our state constitution.

To justify your desired restrictions on hunting, can you name a compelling state interest that overrides the right of individuals to hunt in the absence of your restriction?

Would you accept the same standard of justifying restrictions on other fundamental rights?

You've already admitted to hunting with him when you showed up last year for your annual end of the season PR campaign.......Keep up with the cards being played man.

It seems that every regulation just makes things worse. No matter how well intentioned, there are still unforeseen consequences. Hunters spend way too much time worrying about what their neighbor does and how they can control what the neighbor does. Many are the worst offenders in the name of "If I don't shoot that deer, my neighbor will".

Like a bunch of "Karens" running the neighborhood HOA.

So if your deer population is 80% less that was it used to be then you’re just a Karen for saying something about it?? You know a lot of folks have legitimate complaints

-limit the number of does a single hunter can kill during season - Increase number of does you can kill to 3 each day.

Thank you for your service sir. Quality deer management is obviously not a serious interest for you.

Managing to put more quality deer in the freezer is a very good goal.

No antler restrictions. They are useless. If you make it 8 point or better you’re simply delaying the slaughter of bucks from year 1 to year 2. Does nothing to protect bucks really and leads to lower antler scores over time. All the data recorded in states and areas it’s been tried has reported a decline in overall antler scores over time with point restrictions.

Close Matt but end it the 2nd Saturday in January up here however it falls on the calendar.
Every one of us would change it somehow to suit how we like/want/need to hunt. Its human nature to want it that way. Other than shutting it down completely the 2nd Saturday, and without specific dates to allow for the southern guys to hunt the rut, I would propose this common sense approach.
#1 allow all residents who have a valid hunting license to vote on 3 proposals for season dates. Majority wins whether the rest like it or not. Use data for a 3 year period
and re-vote. A) Leave it alone B) Change it to this C) Change it to that
#2 Tag system for Bucks and does state wide. (2 Buck limit if you ask me and non residents get 1 Buck /1 Doe.)
Doe tags issued for a set amount per region based off density data. Landowner depredation tag system. Additional tags may be purchased for other zones. Ex: Im
in zone D, I get 1 doe tag, but I can purchase a tag in other zones approved for multiple doe tags. Say I go to Selma and they are approved for +2, I can kill two
more does to help my buddy manage his place.
#3 Shorten the season state wide maybe by implementing a split season.
I looked at several scenarios here but a shortened primitive weapons season and then a closed season prior to Rifle makes sense.

Its not the will to win but the will to prepare to win!
