Buck tag system

The split would make for a fresh gun season. I’d still like a two buck limit in there.

I like this idea. For the Deep South they could do jan 10 -Feb 10

A lot of places across Alabama with a mid December rut, so closing it for that month ain’t gonna work.

[quote=ford150man]If you could snap your fingers and make any changes to deer season that you wanted to, what would you do? For me:

-shorten rifle season - No increase rifle season so that it starts on Oct. 15th and end Feb. 15.
-limit the number of does a single hunter can kill during season - Nope increase number of does you can kill to 3 each day.

Thank you for your service sir. Quality deer management is obviously not a serious interest for you.

no feeding/baiting during deer season .

id take two weeks off the beginning of bow season , add spear to bow season , no cross bows.

add pistol and cross bows to black power week . week before gun season .

take first two weeks off gun season ,,,,end all seasons end Jan 31

theres some tweaking in there but some body like matt with state knowledge and other like him would have to decide some tings ,,,, like doe days , doe limits. but leave buck limits along

Good news. Baiting is illegal. It's still illegal. The state law still says that hunting by aid of bait is prohibited.
All the legislature did was legalize the bribery of a sworn officer of the law. If I was a game warden I would still be writing tickets to anyone hunting over bait. And there's nothing that could be done about it because I would be upholding my oath to enforce the law.

I hate making a good first impression. There’s no way I can keep that shit up.

Season goes from October 1 to March 1, all weapons. Turkey, Feb 1 to May 15, same.

4 does, 2 bucks maximum. 2 male birds, 5" minimum beard. Bucks required to be at least 3 years old. (easy to tell when a buck is at least 3. Not always easy to distinguish between 3-4, 4-5, etc.). Antler restrictions just take out the most talented 2-3 year old deer.

Printed tags, must have date cut and be attached to the animal. Any deer turned in to a processor or transported without a cut tag is a $500 fine and loss of hunting priveledges for 2 years. No restrictions on baiting. If you want to indian up on them, fine. If you want to watch a feeder or green patch, fine. Just don't exceed the limit.

The limit/doe days/etc. has always been an irritation for me. I live about 200 yards from the Cherokee/Pickens county line in GA. Dawson County and Forsyth County are less than a mile from my house. Pickens County had 30 doe days this year (last year was 17), and the others mentioned had 80+ doe days. Same limit, just less days to accomplish it in Pickens County

To someone from another state visiting this site , that probably sounds like you mis-spoke.

"Why do you ask"?

Too many people spend money they don't have , on things they don't need, to impress people they don't know.

I think we should cut out all hunting during the rut. A hot doe is the ultimate bait. Everybody wants to know "when's the rut". Easiest time to kill a buck. Need to leave them alone and let them breed. No does after the rut.

Yall are supposed to be smarter than the folks on the average facebook hunting forum....appalled at the dumbassery here. The more pages it goes, the dumber it gets. Holy smokes.

There is actually people here dumb enough to think we should make hunting more expensive?

It has always blown my mind. If I suggested we make normal everyday stuff more restrictive, yall would have a cow. but when it comes to hunting yall want it to cost more and have more rules. I have never understood that.

Would yall support increasing taxes or making building codes more expensive or pretty much increasing the size of ANY state program? Explain to me why that notion changes when it comes to hunting.

Best post so far. Some of the responses above are insane.
