That is Elons big practical daily HR problem. The reason he wants to be is Texas is because of that kind of question. If you are like me, I do not want to work at Tesla or Starlink (Space X and Starlink are the same)or X or Neuralink and so forth. I would like to work for all of them in the right parts of that where I can be effective. All of the Elon better than a BA employees want to do the same. Elon wants that too.
Simple example:
A guy working at Tesla in Texas see's a cool thing that is good for Neuralink. Maybe how our eyes distort with touch screens and the road as they shift in between (Tesla's have eye readers to beep at you to make you keep your eyes on the road, you thought seatbelts were irritating in 1985
)

So HR and accounting have to figure your time between two separate companies in different states of business jurisdictions. Despite the number coding bureaucratic crap which is not a problem in today's world, what the heck is your Job Description?
If you want to get a job under the General Elon-Sphere, where do you apply and what job description do you like in a company of 100,000 specialists of three different companies who all can work from Mars or your local car lot on a weird technical thing. What is the job title for those things when your looking for a job?
Imagine this: You are applying for a general technician job. Are You Technician level II? In an Elon company?
A Tech II at the paper mill who is looking for better-paying job, looks at the X-family jobs and says well I'm Tech II. In Elon land you are some kind of weird thing like Wood to Paper interface specialist, mechanical . <<<< thats your formal working title. Hey bubba whats your job title?

As for pay, they pay real good but not ridiculous or anything. Elon pays good people, better than good pay. Part of the application process is figuring out just what job you like to do really well. Look in the sky, it works.
