Buddy of mine ran into a guy using Code of Silence camo yesterday. Looks similar to the Cabela's wool stuff but reasonably priced.

First Lite has worked for me, I’ve worn the solitude bibs and jacket in single digits and -20s windchill and was warm.

I need some warmer base layers. With this BlackOvis, which one are yall using?? I have mostly Tuscarora (midweight) and really like it. I have one of the Keele (heavyweight) hooded tops that is also really handy. Just FYI, their bottoms run fairly true to size, but their tops definitely run small.

I need some warmer base layers. With this BlackOvis, which one are yall using?? I don’t remember the names of them, but they have light, medium, and heavy weight 100% merino wool base layers. I have them all and use whatever the weather requires. I just looked at black ovis website and they have the keele heavyweight layer on sale right now for over 50% off.

If you are looking for BlackOvis base layers, you should check out camofire.com. They have that stuff on sale most days. I can give my assessment of Sitka Gear. I love the stuff. I have the Stratus Pants and Bib and like the pants much better. I also where a fanatic jacket and love it. The kangaroo pocket in the front is a game changer and the way they design the cloths is really functional. I have some of their cooler weather gear also, that I love. I've been wearing it for three seasons now and it was worth every penny I spent but I didn't buy any of it at MSRP. You can find it on sale at https://mountain-archery.com/collections/sitka-gear-clothing and that is where I bought most of mine from.

I always gave the sitka folks a hard time, but once I lost some weight and could actually buy some I did and I now just about have everything. I wait until they go on sale and then use another 40% discount code from govx.com or keep an eye on ebay. I haven't paid full price for anything.

Fanatic bibs and I bought the Traverse hoodie. Perfect typical Alabama combo. Layers needed for top, but not bibs. Fanatic top would handle this week, but too much for most trips.

I’ve got a sack full of Sitka gear gifted by my son the doctor. I agree that the Stratus line is really all you need for Alabama except for the weather we’ve had lately. I wore the Fanatic bibs and jacket in 23 degree weather and was comfortable. Originally I got the Fanatic gear for Illinois but have worn it more in Alabama than I would have thought. Can’t vouch for the other brands but I’ve got all the Sitka lines including base layers and they are well designed by hunters and are very durable. They also have a scent protection system that allows you not to have to wash it so often. If I had to buy anything on my own, I would just buy the Stratus pants and jacket. It is very warm and most importantly, windproof.

I had the stratus pants/jacket and the fanatic vest, but also just picked up the fanatic bib. Haven't worn them to hunt yet but put them on to make sure they fit when I got them and I can tell they are going to be toasty!

I bought the SITKA fanatic jacket on sale and I can tell you it's warm as advertised. The only thing I don't like is the way it zips in the front. The sitka stuff runs small too so size up one But the tradeoff is you get the hand warmer style pocket like you have on a hoody, well worth it to me. That's true and it is pretty nice.

If it’s below 32…
I wear a pair of silkies cheap from academy, a pair of pajama pants, and a regular pair of camo pants. Up top I wear a light Columbia pull over on top of the silkies and a Camo jacket that cuts the wind. If it’s below freezing I wear my heated vest from Amazon. Thin socks under wool socks and tight boots. I rarely get cold.
I do have a pair of carhart material camo bibs I can wear if I’m going to be going through briars at some point but I try not to do that.
Wool base layers make me sweat just thinking about it.

Now that something I can get behind. I could wear them in the dove field. I do. The Wick line from first lite is incredible hot weather merino wool. Plus, you can use it as a baselayer in hot weather since it’s insulative and moisture wicking.
