Honest question……I’m not trying to be harsh here or anything……but what does a GW do on a typical day during deer season??..... I don’t think I’ve seen a single GW truck all season while riding around……I think that’s one of the reasons no one worries about shooting over the limit or not checking in a deer, etc…..It just seems like that if I were constantly seeing the presence of a green truck riding around in my area I would be more leery about loading up a deer and skirting the rules….etc…….Bag limit compliance is virtually non-existent from what I can tell
Folks that know don't shoot old does........

The surest way that I have found to contact a real life warden is to host a dove hunt.

They came out to my neck of the woods beginning of season with ghillie suit. Thermal. And sat on people night hunting in the bushes for a few nights. Said he didn’t catch them but ain’t been back.
He parked in my neighbors shed where they wouldn’t see his truck if they drove by.
Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
My phone screen does not always work right, usually a lot of misspelled words....

A couple good poachers working in tandem might kill 30 bucks this season…….Alabama hunters shooting multiple bucks per day or over the 3 buck limit will probably kill 30,000

I haven’t seen one in my area of the county in a few years.. in their defense there isn’t but 1 for the county and maybe 1 for the 2 counties I’m in, not sure. The last good one we had took his own life. He would put some boots on the ground.

I had one checking my truck for corn back in the day and then got mad that I scared him by firing off the 7 mag, I could see him being nosy from my tree about 75yds from the old road lol.. Same guy accused a friend of hunting over bait so he told him to take him to his hunt area. He took the long way through the swamp to a different tree lol. Warden was soaked, buddys bait site remained a mystery lol. That was on IP permit land

They are spread thin. The one I know works a lot at night trying to catch night hunters. He spends a lot of time tracking down idiots who have poached a deer or a limit of ducks and bragged about it on Facebook. He spends a lot of time managing hunts on the management areas, and following up on complaints that are filed. Then there’s court time and paperwork. I have a lot more respect for gamewardens since I’ve seen what he does.

I guess they do best they can . All I ever met but one was good people. I got a ex GW that lives just up the road he was a hard ass but he was a fair one. I never had a problem with him

They answer complaint calls and have state property to check, to include WMA’s and boat ramps. They get enough complaint calls to stay more than busy. There’s not enough of them just like there’s not enough law enforcement to keep up with things.

I’ve hunted 5o + years in Alabama and been checked twice. I’ve hunted twice in Oklahoma and been checked twice.

We had one help us get permission this year to track on some property. Even made sure to get us permission to dispatch if needed. I don't hate em or nothing but I've had some horrible experiences with some. I've never been written a ticket by one but it isn't because they didn't want to. I went almost all season last year never seeing one. This year has been different. They've been all over Cahaba WMA. They checked me today and yesterday. That doesn't count my friend getting checked and times I passed them up driving by. Out biggest problem is kids thinking the WMA is an offroad course for Daddys 4x4/target range/lover's lane. I tell them I'm happy to see them every time. Last rifle hunt I had two groups of teenagers mudding all around me. They only took a break to shoot beer bottles. Don't get me started about the dirt bike kids.
What we really need to ask is where the hell are the National Forest Rangers? I never see those guys.

Never thought about that way I mean at the end of the day all dead bucks count as “1”…it doesn’t really matter if you spotlight him or shoot him over the limit……both equal one poached deer…… and I can guarantee you that the number of bucks being poached by night hunters isnt even in the same ball park as the amount being killed over the limit during the daytime……
