The guys I know around Shelby county that hunt private land are having normal years. I haven’t heard any complaints. I’m personally glad that I hunt public land and don’t have to deal with this corn/ neighbors BS. It has its own challenges but I’m having fun.
There’s a lot of public ground less crowded than private clubs and small tracts scattered across the landscape. There’s pretty good hunting to be had on a lot of AL public lands. Last time I hunted Oakmulgee WMA it was crowded as heck. This was several years ago. Seen some good deer taken from there over the years.

My buddy shares some pics with bucks from n bama public - please let em hunt there 🤣🤣
Nothing will be easy w a big buck - but he sending pics of 140s and up - phenomenal. And i dont think they bigger in n bama only for trigger control. Think they can grow bigger deer

Everything over there is scared to death. Lucky to see anything over there unless u can get way off the path. So many road riders shooting at stuff u can’t hardly find a track in a road. Basically u gotta hunt over there where u will need to pack one out. It would have to be special for me to shoot one there.

I used to hunt it hard I've been a dozen times this year and the biggest buck I've seen is a 4 point. They've got too many gun days
We will burn that bridge when we get there

Wait until they find CWD and start giving extra buck tags out for every doe you kill.
And ban baiting and feeding.

Maybe the deer population will soon be ruined to the point of having to totally restock again.. we can then get midwestern deer, have a statewide Thanksgiving rut and be done deer hunting by new years. That'll give me 2 months squirrel hunting without having to worry about my dog getting shot. Also, maybe it will hit the mega-buck fixation reset button, and folks will be happy once again hunting and killing those 4, 5, and 6 point basket bucks that we used to be proud of years ago.

When I was kid back in the days of dog hunting walker/winston county, guys would ride around with those basket rack deer on the hood or with the tailgate down showing it off to everyone. And it wasn't because it was rare to kill one.

I remember back before feeding was legal the 5ac guys would fuss about the big acre guys planting all their big food plots and having feeding stations in prime timber tracts that would hold all the deer and none would come to their little property. Now the big guys are are complaining about the little guy who finally has a way to kill a deer or 2 on his little piece of property. This has been going on forever and will go on forever unless there’s no more deer to kill. Then they will fight over squirrels.

Biggest bucks ever killed were this year on 3 of the 4 properties I hunt. 3 different counties.

I said this in another post but I was thinking more about it riding around today…….. and I think that the major reduction in age structure from some areas like Matt has been talking about could very well be hidden in the game check numbers……Meaning that the change in age structure could be occurring and the buck kill total showing on game check remain pretty constant……All that has to happen is for there to be an increase in the harvesting of the 1-3 year olds and a decrease in the harvesting of “mature” 4+ year olds……The total number of bucks killed would end up about the same….

CWD is environmental...if it got to the point of population decimation, you'd be restocking with Fallow deer. But CWD will not eliminate a deer population. What it will do is destroy age structure. The good news for Alabama with it's half a year deer season is that we'll all still be shooting the same 2 and 3 year olds that we are now. However, the occasional trophy outlier posted to Facebook will become even more rare.

I was referring to us dumb hunters ruining everything to the point of a rotenone-type reset.. like starting a pond over (joke).

Hey, I do love your pre-Christmas rut though. Our rut in Oklahoma was mid to late November and by January I was hog, coyote and squirrel hunting. Heck I was shed hunting in late January!

I've got pictures again this season...... of the same buck at 2 separate corn piles approx. 2 miles part straight line distance.
That's why you don't have any mature deer.
It's got a broken rack that's the only reason it's still alive.
Final Answer:
Ask yourself how many rifle shots you hear on a typical morning in the woods and there's your answer for your specific location. If you can hear the shot it's within range of your corn pile.
No government employees were harmed in the making of this mess.

This is true, before corn was legal i never heard a rifle shot while hunting. Definitely the answer

If all these bucks are getting killed over corn piles how are people still killing bucks on huge expanses of public land 🤔

Some folks just don't want to go without shooting a buck for one year. Whether it's public or private they are going to take multiple bucks, maybe this year the deer are younger than last year. Those bragging rights, ego, and buck fever is a condition hard to cure.
