Max Point Blank Range shooting 160 grain bullets would be just over 300 yards. A 140 is maybe 330 yards. Because it loses velocity and energy faster.
I don't know why anyone would shoot 140 grain bullets. Out past 300 yards I'd want a heavier bullet.... Why would you not want a heavier bullet? Anyone who answers otherwise is FOS.
Between 0-330 yards what did you accomplish? Nothing. That's the answer.
All you did was open up the realm of uncertainty that keeps you going back to the Island of Misfit Magic Bullets searching for the Holy Grail of dumbassery.
You'll figure it out at some point.
It’s not about how far, it’s about bullet construction, and what shoots well out of the rifle. For deer 160 is overkill but if you like it and it shoots good use it.
