Those heavier bullets don't start expanding good till about 200 yards on deer. Way it was with my BIL 7mm stw. They just moving so fast
Why don't bullets expand at higher velocity?
I’ve heard that for decades now. I think it’s more of bullet blowing up and just the core making a small exit hole.
That’s been my experience shooting my 7mm stw 140 gr ballistic tips running close to 3500 fps. Shot a doe pretty close one time and found pieces of the jacket thruout her inerds and far side hide. Looking at her as a small butane and exit hole. Killed you’re the same way but I didn’t cut him open. His buddy dropped at little over 400 yards and had a hole as big as your fist.
Killed one buck a little over a 100 yards and hit him in the spine. Looked like a shark had taken a bite out of him.
