Young hunter shot one this afternoon on a quartering to angle…..The entry was pretty good but the exit was way back in the guts…..He said he jumped it about 50 yards off the field and backed out……It turned out to be a routine run right to him about 250 yards from the hit site….Dead on arrival……..

Tracked this one last night. We swam a couple ponds and creeks but he made it to the river and swam across. We were pushing hypothermia so we called it off. Went back around 1 today. Walked about a mile up and down the side of the river we were on to make sure he didn't come back to our side. After getting a hold of the landowners on the other side of the river we got permission. Jumped in a boat and crossed it. Walked as far as I could up river with no luck. Walked back down the river and about half a mile down that way I found some blood. Didn't take long to catch up with him after that. He was in pretty bad shape.

Tracked one this morning that was shot yesterday evening. He back tracked and made all kinds of crazy loops because the hunters pushed him hard lastnight. Got to him finally and his liver was hanging out about 11 today. He tried to stand up but couldn't. Amazing how tough they can be

Tracked two today from yesterday evening’s hunt……First one was shot in the brisket/leg…….We tracked him 850 yards and found him dead in a little pond of water……The second one was a bow shot that hit high around the backstrap that is probably ok and will live to be shot again another day……..

It got pretty slow, heating back up now. Have turned down several tracks lately just because I've been busy with the Holidays

Got the chance to help one of my favorite people in the world Mr Tonolo Swords tonight. Huge bodied 8pt that wasn't much fun dragging out.

Went after a gut shot deer. 11 year old girls first deer. We found a bed with hair in it about 300 yards in. Pretty sure a single coyote came in and ran him because we found him piled up around 800 yards from that bed barely eaten on.

We've been chasing a leg shot around ....He's probably just hit in the meat of the leg.....Ran him into a big lake and he just kept going

Had a long night catching up to this one with a busted front leg. Poor Muzz ripped both his ears and got gored in the neck. Super glued him back together 🤣

Y’all don’t forget about the dangers of beaver traps…..Yesterday almost turned out tragic for us…..The hunter called and got permission to go onto the neighbors land from the folks who hunt it but nobody said anything about the beaver traps around the lake…..Otis was standing right by one of them before we noticed it…..That would have been a tough way to lose him

Hunter called and said he thought he’d put a pretty good shot on one but the rain had washed away his blood trail and he’d been looking around for over an hour in a thicket with no luck……The dogs ran straight to it for an easy find about 125 yards from the hit site……It was a cold, wet, muddy Can-Am ride back to where he shot it though…..Feels good to be back by the fireplace…..

Tracked this bucks shot in the shoulder with a crossbow. He was shot yesterday evening and we started tracking him around 10 today. Had to go about 300 yards to get past where the hunters lost his tracks. After that Muzz was gone and barking in no time. We snuck in and put another one in him. He turned and charged me after that and I had to climb up on some rocks to get away. Was interesting for sure. The arrow had deflected once it hit shoulder and turned down but angled slightly towards his brisket and the broad head and 8 inches or so of the shaft was inside of him.

2nd time I've ever got to track in the snow. It definitely helps hold down the scent. Seems like they can just run the track effortlessly

I bet that was exciting, and a really nice buck as well!

Found a cool racked buck this morning for a teenagers first deer……There wasn’t a whole lot to the track…..The hunter’s dad just called out the dogs out of an abundance of caution as they say…….Ruby ran straight to it…….She's in the background finishing off his tail…..
