Mbrock - i would quit if i never had atleast 1 mature to go after. I really only had 1 good shooter last year until last week one of my regs showed up I keep pressure at best spots way down - that helps lot. I hear all this corn and killing mature - my deer i think are different. My 5 year old plus dont just stand over a corn pile in daylight. But it took my deer 2 freaking years to get use to a banks gravity. Put a trough feeder there at big field year and 1/2 ago. Still not fully use to it and i put corn on the ground around it every time i feed. I took cameras down one side of my property cause they so spooky over cameras and feeders. I killed best deer on my property last year - but he was checking for doe and checking field and all the way down to feb 3rd. I got 9 mature this year and may be lucky to kill 2. I keep pressure down and hav big field where i can usually leave without them seeing me

I do try to out feed my neighbor - i want his deer and i use legal advantages to enhance mine. I rather not hav corn - but if we feeding then game on

Hunt the wind - leave it better than you found it - love your neighbor as you love your self
We need prayer for our country now more than ever

I like a good debate/ conversation. That’s how we learn. Especially when it’s from 2 totally different areas. Everyone sees things through a different lens and we can all give ours opinions. God Blesse America!!

Good debates... I just hate to be talked down to because I don't hunt/manage like somebody else. Our goals are likely not the same.

True!! Which makes for a good debate. Especially on this topic because I’m on both sides of the coin and have real world experience with being the bigger land guy and the small land guy. Also I know the the broad spectrum of a deer hunters mindset. At my age and as long as I’ve been hunting, I’ve been through every stage except 100% trophy hunter and I hope I never get to that point. If I see a good buck and he makes me huff and take a deep breath, there’s a strong possibility he’s gonna get shot at. And if it’s a buck the neighbors were wanting to let grow and I didn’t know about it, well I’m hate it for them. I’d expect them to do the same if they had the opportunity. If a deer walks in front of me, at that time it’s my deer, my choice!! Have I made the wrong choice before? Of course I did and I’m sure I’ll make the wrong choice again. It’s human nature. The thing with me is if you ask if we can work together, I’m in 100% with you but if you try to tell me what I can and can’t shoot on my property I control, you will be very disappointed in the results. At the end of the day I just want to go sit in God’s magnificent creation and relax and not worry about anything and if I decide to shoot a deer, I want to celebrate that deer and enjoy everything about killing that deer.

Yessir each to his own. Personally if its not a mature mount worthy buck I dont pull the trigger but i can respect thats not everyone's style of hunting. most of the time its those high dollar "trophy" hunters or silver spoon freeloading hunters talking down to those who dont chose to hunt the way they do. Everyone isnt blessed with the same hunting opportunities.

Corn and cameras have zero to do with herd management. The only way to manage a herd should be to manage how many deer are killed, not how or by whom they are killed. This is easily accomplished in states that care about their wildlife. This is not one of those states. It should be done by county, and on a regular basis. It should be determined how many deer are in a county, and where the herd wants to be. If 1000 deer can be shot in pike county, and only 100 people hunt there, over the counter tags, only 1000 of them. If 1000 people hunt in Macon county, and only 100 deer need to be killed, lottery. For the states budget divide amout of tags by amount of budget set price, it's that simple. It's also fair. If you have five tags and want to kill them on 5 acres over corn with a camera, do it, it doesn't affect anyone else. If you draw buy a tag, and your from new York, it doesn't affect anyone else. Only way to do effectively. If you are die hard and want to manage even more, buy tags and don't use them, works for everyone, except the people who want to shoot an obscene amout of deer. And don't give me this bull crap I need them to feed my family. If that were true people would be starving in north east and out west. Get a job to feed your family!!!

I hope that what I’ve said hasn’t come across that way. I am in no staying there’s one way to hunt and the state should manage for trophy hunting. I just hate to see people unable to accomplish their objectives because of what everyone else is doing. There’s got to be a compromise. I know it’s not a problem everywhere. Where it’s a problem it’s a bad one.

I guess because some people are just imbeciles, and think everyone should always agree with them, no mater how retarded they are?

This reminds me of NIL. Pay for play has been going on since the 1800s. Make it legal and now the schools that had a system to cheat are the ones bitching the most. Can’t have these nobodies getting ā€œmyā€ players!!!!

Jesus.

I’m sure that high pressure 5 acres is more attractive than your select cut, rotational burn, and food plot heaven with little pressure. Yea, that makes perfect sense.

No, I’m seeing bucks on a regular basis on 4 different properties, in 3 different Counties, in 3 different Alabama deer zones. Most are not what I want to kill, and in opinion I don’t have unrealistic expectations of killing 130ā€+ deer in pine plantations,
but there are a few I have killed and a few I would if I could. I have corn feeders on every property, don’t hunt over the feeders.
Can’t control what my neighbors do on their place and don’t worry about them.
We’re trying to have fun.

Here’s the part that I have a hard time understanding……Iffin you want to manage by the method of ā€œperception is realityā€ā€¦.. using bullchit and persuasion to convince the public that everything is always awesome……then why even create a data set like Game Check to get in the way of that??....Why create it and then just constantly try to convince everyone that it doesn’t mean anything….dont look over here!...……Makes no sense to me… Are there conflicting opinions on how to manage amongst the powers that be??

Didn’t our boy Chuck create Game Check?......It kinda makes me wonder if he isnt as bad as everyone likes to make him out to be……Maybe its just Ag and Insurance that are the ones wanting the waters to stay muddy……I don’t know……Like I said, why would you even create GC if that’s your intentions
