Went recovered one tonight for a teenage hunter who had shot one way back in the guts……Only a couple small spots of blood near the hit site…..It was a pretty routine track…..We found him dead on arrival about 220 yards away……. ![[Linked Image]](https://i.imgur.com/fPTrYcg.jpeg) ![[Linked Image]](https://i.imgur.com/2j9FZg6.jpeg)

Well I think some folks are taking shots they shouldn't because they have the dog tracker on speed dial and if they don't drop it the dogs will get their deer. One guy commented he has used a dog tracker more than once. Just sayinnn.

Kids should be taught how and when to shoot. If they can't shoot properly then should not be allowed. Yes things happen, but can't just blame it on them being a kid. Congrats on finding the deer!

Meh……some folks just don’t handle the rush of adrenaline as well…..”Buck fever” causes a lot of bad shots……especially with kids…..I’m not casting any stones on this one because I’ve made my fair share of them too……I mean you’re looking at the bad shots from hundreds or thousands of deer being taken around me as well…..The reality of it is that we hunters are actually pretty efficient at killing deer…..There is a margin of error in there though and there always will be…..chit happens when you deer hunt. If bad shots bother you then this probably isnt the thread you want to follow…..I doubt I post up many lung shots……

I’m just glad that you’re out there helping these people recover these marginally hit deer that otherwise would most likely die and be lost or eaten alive by coyotes. I know you don’t post a bunch of pics with the shooters but I bet you and the pups create a whole bunch of smiling faces between Oct 15th and Feb 10th. Here’s to you and the others on here running these dogs and providing this service.

There are some people that simply do not know where to aim when shooting a deer, kids and adults. Keep up the good work!

Good way to start off the new year with a gut shot on an absolute toad…..Yes, free range…….Hunter shot it with a bow at around 7:50 this morning……He snuck out of the woods and called me……..said he knew he had hit way back and wanted to bring in the dog just to be sure……We went in at around 2:30 and found him dead in his bed only 100 yards away……. ![[Linked Image]](https://i.imgur.com/uzrPRR5.jpeg) ![[Linked Image]](https://i.imgur.com/LujAr4e.jpeg)

Tracked two more tonight but no luck......First one was likely just a grazing shot on the brisket or back of the legs that caused the buck to mule kick but no blood or any sign of a hit.......The second one was most likely a brisket hit that the hunters had already taken 800 yards with their duck lab before it petered out on them.....We werent able to take it much farther before it petered out on us too....

Loaded up another nice buck this morning….Hunter called and said he had followed pretty good blood for about 200 yards to a bed where he thought he had jumped the buck…..also reported finding bone…..It turned out he had hit a good size vine about a foot or so in front of the deer that caused his bullet to expand or fragment before hitting the deer in the shoulder……We had to run him around a little bit but eventually got him hemmed up…… ![[Linked Image]](https://i.imgur.com/1FsyPx6.jpeg) The big hole in his shoulder is the entry from the original shot……. ![[Linked Image]](https://i.imgur.com/bgNoOIU.jpeg)

Went and checked a clean miss for a hunter this morning.......It was indeed a clean miss.......Went from there to track a bow shot for some folks hunting right off the edge of town.....Likely a one lung hit......We jumped him out of his bed but had to call it off due to the circumstances of where we were at.....Just not somewhere I could turn the dogs loose.
