I've hunted in low single digits considering the wind chill. My 4-wheeler would hardly crank and didn't see a single deer. Once temps approach 25° and below, I haven't noticed Alabama deer to move, at all.

Once temps approach 25° and below, I haven't noticed Alabama deer to move, at all. with me its early evening , 3:00 , 3:30 they gone . ive always had better day light movement when its been cold for over a few day same with rainy days wet days. low 30's aint cold .

Duck hunting is about to get good!!!!! Only if the states above and to the West get it before we do for a few days. If we can see that and you have a means of keeping a hole open it'll be a slaughter. When it happened last year I went thru a stretch of a whole lot of straight up duck killing on the river for those few days. It was epic

You get back in the mountains and throw out a barrel of corn , they'll move back and forth between it and the nearest thicket.

2Dogs , damn 15 is cold any where . lol
i remember hunting one time years ago it was 12 that day . damn bottom of my blue jeans froze . was so cold one time i saw the air freeze . now that was a site .
to add, day it was 12 been cold a few days then , our pond froze . ice was spewed up out of the ground I was actually dumb enough to get out hunting when it was -3, when we had that bad cold snap around 1980. I hunted Canada when the high for the day was -12 . I can tell ya , I've been a lot colder in Alabama than in Canada.

I’ve had great luck 2-3rd day after it gets cold. Or 2-3 days after a snow.
I think they lay low at first then get hungry.

About 27-28 degrees is good enough to get the deer moving.....I'm good if we dont go below that You got that right!!! I don’t handle the cold like I used to. Recent research suggests there is no significant increase in deer activity during cold weather. But, there is a large increase in hunter activity typically which leads to more people seeing deer and telling people they saw deer. Edit to add: That research won’t stop me from also being in the woods during a cold front  Where was that research done? I believe there's less hunters up in the woods up here when it gets down near single digits . Down around 15 and lower is cold up here, real cold , unless in a heated shooting house and you don't find those in the woods. Then there's the whole corn pile angle, when it's single digits that's where the activity is. It's like shooting deer in a barrel. Research has been done by Penn State, Auburn, Mississippi State. All have same conclusion, not enough data to indicate an increase or decrease in deer activity during cold fronts. Mostly seems to stay average. The high wind , yeap it scares them . I killed a very nice buck a few year back on Thanksgiving when we having 50 mph winds mid day. Killed a few other ones in high winds
As for the a cold front maybe but I'm not talking about 25 in the mourning and 65 that evening . I'm talking a few days of cold weather.

I'll bet $ they didn't do that study at a corn pile, near a bedding area, on a South facing slope. I still say its bull doo doo I guess it depends on the definition of activity. Granted going 100 yards back forth between a bedding spot and a corn pile isn't being very active.

Maybe it’s the timing of their movement and where they feed that puts them in front of hunters more…..When it freezes up for the second half of the night it seems like there is more daylight feeding….especially in the green fields…..Deer seem to flock to the greenfields more when it gets cold.

CNC they say changing weather causes deer to move better then they say a cold front has no affect on movement . I won't even bring up the Biometric pressure thing . I think bout half of these studies are as worthless as tits on a boar hog or half ass done.

I can tell y’all on our place we see very little to no early movement when it’s mid 20s or below temps. Now later in the mornings when it’s starts to warm a little, you need to be in the woods. I can also tell you the couple times it snowed enough to cover the ground, you would think there wasn’t a deer anywhere to be found on our place. That one year it was on the 3rd day I found 1 set of tracks crossing a road in the woods. When it started melting off the deer were everywhere. They didn’t like that at all.
It's hard to kiss the lips at night that chews your a$$ all day long.

We see way more deer on the plots on afternoons where the temps drop like a rock the last hour or so. Also if the frost sets in early at our place, stay in and drink an extra cup of coffee or 2 the next morning. Head out about 0730-0800 and sit as long as you can. We see a ton of deer in that 9-12 time frame. I love those days in the woods.
It's hard to kiss the lips at night that chews your a$$ all day long.
