Ardmore is a nice town too. Plus, if you get tired of being in Alabama you can walk across the road and be in Tennessee.

I sure would like to see where the projects would possibly take place.
I would too. I would really like to know where it goes in relation to Selma. I hope they stay south of it.

Hwy 80 from Montgomery to York-Cuba is going to be turned fully into I-85 so it can join 20-59. The routes are planned and the pre-planning phase is mostly done. Property is steadily being acquired. Its going to be interesting to see how Trump and Elon move but both like to build at Eisenhower speed or faster. I expect to see dirt moving on the project before Trump's term is over.
When that is complete and open, all of the real estate on the north side of the new interstate is going to get very damn expensive. The north side will be serving B-Ham, T-Town, and every other big city to the north. Demopolis north-side should grow rapidly. Now is a good time to be buying over that way for your children and grandchildren. That’s funny, been working on 4 laning US 80 since I graduated in “77”, worked on some of the initial surveying during the summer, It won’t been done in your kids life time much less ours

I would too. I would really like to know where it goes in relation to Selma. I hope they stay south of it. One of the proposed paths has it going south of Selma and right through the land I hunt on. I think though, that Valley Grande has put some pressure, or as much as it could, to have it go through there so that is the favored path. The truth is, for all the talk, they don't even know where they want it yet. Bottom line, I'll never see it in my lifetime, and I don't plan on checking out any time real soon.
Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

It will be on the north side of Selma. Not only is South of Selma basically all of Cahawba its also a low large flood delta. The North side is more geologically manageable. Also the bridge crossing areas with the ACOE are totally owned. South of 80 the good crossing approach areas are not Federally claimed yet, and they are bigger and more of them. The biggest expenses with interstates are bridges and exits. Even a short 50 foot bridge requires a lot of extra engineering and money.

That one little spot just north of Repton and east of Monroeville. I have that spot right on the Burnt Corn 👍🏼. Another south outside Uriah on the Little River. “Refresh yourself in Jesus”

Florence is a good area . Lived outside Florence 60 yrs . Nice quiet a peaceful with no interstate running thru here . Lots of restaurants. Nice place to retire. Not a nice place for work.

I like Skinny’s small town. Luverne is kind of cool. Brantley is scenic with the front porches and Glenwood you’ll miss if you blink.

It would pretty much turn 80 into old Route 66. Essentially folks could outright skirt Montgomery without ever going through the city. The proposal I looked at about 10 years ago was running right through my family’s land. You probably spoke to my grandfather as he entertained several surveyors coming through. In fact the proposal put an exit on HWY 21 right near my parents driveway.

Union Springs. Smells like dead chickens.... keeps the riff raff out.
There are a lot of things about Union Springs , but the riff raff pretty much stays hold up in that shithole. Had a guy that considered robbing me at a gas station there - he reconsidered his options when I shared with him that a 7 beats a 9 or whatever else it was that he had in his pocket every single day. When he looked passed me and saw my hand on my rifle - he decided to shuffle back across the street.

I live on the outside of Tallassee, not a lot to do here, but close to Auburn, Montgomery, Lake Martin and Lake Jordan. I used to live in Ware, right between Tallassee and Wetumpka. I had a Tallassee address but was faster to Wetumpka. I did like it there, real pretty spot close to everything.

I’m surprised no one has mentioned Auburn. Even as a Bammer I can admit that they’re a nice place to live. This is honestly a good answer. You can buy 40 acres within 20 minutes of Auburn for cheap and if your wife ain’t happy with the “amenties” Auburn has to offer you may as well move to Manhattan.

Auburn is super nice and I always enjoy my time there visiting my boys. Downtown is clean and abundant. Abbeville is also super nice with all that Yellafella has done there.
