I’ve been using the Tactacam Reveals for a couple years after being disappointed by Moultrie Delta. I really miss the Moultrie app though. I see the Moultrie Edges on sale regularly. I was wondering if anyone is running these and if so, how do they compare to Tactacams

I’m running both and I really like both. The tactacam has a wider field of view than the moultrie. The moultrie has better daytime pictures than the tactacam. They both at times burn through batteries. I like the antenna better on the moultrie. For the money I paid I would buy the moultrie. 2 cameras for $100.

I have two moultrie edge pros and they are pretty good, but they do take alot of pictures of shadows. Another thing that is stupid is there are no month to month subscriptions. The plan is cheap but I don't need the fraking thing for 12 months

The original Edge's are 2/$80 at BPS and Rogers. I'm running 6 of them and a couple of Edge 2's and the original Edge's are just as good. You can force a pic from the the Edge 2 at any time which is nice.

If taking a lot of pics of shadows, adjust the PIR intensity from highest/high to medium.

I run all of mine month to month...there's an option for monthly or annual. You save on the annual, but I run mine from Oct - Apr, and this is the 2nd year I've done them this way.

Changing the upload time from instantaneous to every 3hrs also saves a ton on battery.

I have both. I honestly kinda like my tactacams better. Moultrie’s are cheaper initially but tactacams are cheaper monthly…balances it out

I do monthly and shut them off after season.

My Tactacams do not send all pics that are taken. I pull card and see a crap load of deer that were never sent to my phone.

I like the Edge 2s. My only complaint is battery life, which as has been mentioned, can be mitigated some by downloading every few hours rather than instantly.

I have 10 brand new ones in the box never opened if you want some. I could do a decent price on them. I may just put them in the classifieds soon anyway and see if I can get rid of them. I bought 20 and I certainly won’t use them all.

Edge 2s are very good cams for the price. iMO. Have seen 2 packs for $99 recently. Edges seem to send almost all pics taken. My experience with the tactacams is you only get about every second or third pic actually sent to you. Battery life on the edges seems to be about 60% of the life on the reveals but the Edges are also pushing out probably double the number of pics to your phone that the reveals are. I talked with Moultrie and they said that the battery drain occurs when it’s trying repeatedly to push every single pic individually and cell service is weak and changing the settings so that it is batching the pics and not sending them instantaneously will help with the problem.

I just ordered the moultrie edge 2 pro today. I've been running 2 tactacam and not very pleased with pic quality. Moultrie has 40 mp so quality should be good. I like AI that allows only taking pics of desired species. No more squirrel and coon pics. Can get pic or video on demand which allows you to get real time pic or video. Pretty sure they have monthly plans.

I have noticed battery life does not last nearly as long in my edge 2 compared to the original edge.
