Thank You. Every 20 - 25 shots swab it out? Well, my gun is an 870 with a 20" barrel and it is pretty light for a 12 ga slug gun so it has some brisk recoil with my handloaded slugs but I usually "enjoy" about 10-15 rounds and clean it when I finish. My barrel does not change point of impact whether clean or fouled. That is something I would check when you clean the barrel. If you are concerned about the smell of the solvent, you can run a patch of rubbing alcohol through it when finished. It has an odor but usually vanishes after it evaporates .
Remember: It aint what you shoot...it's how you shoot it.
