I think there are still coaches out there whose mission is to help shape and mold players into good men and do their best to guide them down a right path while also building a championship team. But, just like parents who pour their all into a child to raise them right, sometimes they will listen to wrong people, get with the wrong crowd and make bad decisions. Plenty of examples out there. The portal thing irks me but Bama can also be the beneficiary of the portal too.
I saw an article that talked about how the Bama transfers fared this year. Isiah Bonds and Caleb Downs had good years and are in the playoffs. The other dozen or so had “meh” seasons and some didn’t do well at all.
I do think there needs to be some guardrails. That’s why don’t give a hoot about recruiting. 50% + of the signing class will not be there 3 years. Some not after 2.
I saw another article or heard it someplace that former Auburn QB TJ Findley is transferring to another team with 1 more year of eligibility. Guys, he was in the Bryce Young recruiting class. That’s messed up. Get on with life man.
