Nick Saban did a pretty good job of explaining it. His thing was that you can't develop young men, build a team mindset or have continuity. He makes some good points. I personally don't have a problem with paying players who are making hundreds of millions for their universities but it's currently the wild west and I do think that something needs to be done that is beneficial for everyone. With that said, it sure has leveled the playing field.
I could understand those arguments. I think before long they will have to sign contracts. It really would protect the players and the schools.
But I guess what we have now isn’t any different than what we have in High School or the NFL. In the NFL there are contracts but there are a lot of 1 year contracts too.
I don’t think any of the schools do a decent job of developing the players into good men. Having a team mindset has long been out the door with most players, and the change in continuity is just because we aren’t used to it. I mean if this was the way it had always been we wouldn’t know the difference.
