I used to have it fairly bad. Step one was start losing weight. Obviously long term and not the easiest. All the stretching and strengthening mentioned is a first step. Keeping inflammation down with advil and ice. I used a lacrosse ball under my heel to stretch before I ever got out of bed and put full weight on it.
A Dr also told me to never walk on hard floors without soft supportive shoes of some type. Sometimes when I feel it start to come back it seems to be related to me being lax on that part.

Before getting out of bed sit up with legs extended. Wrap a belt around the top of the foot holding each end of the belt in each hand. Pull back towards you. You will feel it stretch and the relief. Doc told me this and I did it for a couple months and it worked great. That’s been several years and I don’t have to do it now. Not sure where it went but glad it did. Been several years since I’ve done it.

It’s carpal tunnel of the foot. You have to put the work in to get your feet back into shape. Most of you people don’t have the self discipline to strengthen your feet back to the way God intended.
All of my footwear is zero drop with ability to have a full toe spread up front.

Roll a frozen water bottle under your foot and do calf raises on the stairs or some kind of platform.

Calf stretching and never taking a step barefooted did it for me.

The best way to tell your foot health is, can you jump an inch or 3 by only flexing your feet, no calf, no legs.

Had it for awhile. Had surgery no help. What did help was standing on a step with your heels hanging then let your heels down. That stretchs your Achilles tendons which is the problem. They are pulling on the bottom of your feet.

I got a spiked roller for massaging my feet first thing in the morning but per my doctor, did away will my whole foot insoles and just put in a thick heel pad type. This has done the job very well and it was instant. Not pain free but cut it in half at least. I'm thankful for the help and will try some more of what yall have suggested if the pain returns in a significant way.

I thought I was about to have a flare up of it. I didn’t wear my new hikers for a week. Wore athletic shoes. It’s better. I think mine was mild. Heel hurt like heck for a week tho.

The tendon is pull at the connection point on your heel bone. You have to get that tendon to stretch a little with exercise. It is fixable but you will have to be consistent. As said above, rolling a frozen water bottle under foot helps the inflammation and helps the pain. Good luck,

I had the injections,I did the water bottle. What seemed to help the most was getting the flat sole boots, and staying away from anything with a heel. This heel thing was mentioned in past threads by someone else and their success. I wear the Keen boots always now, for dress and work. Sunday shoes with a heel are rare unless wedding, etc.

All of my footwear is zero drop with ability to have a full toe spread up front. Modern footwear is killing us. Cowboy boots are especially awful with a high heel and narrow toe box. I cringe every time I see someone wearing them. All of my footwear is zero drop as well: running shoes, dress shoes, hiking boots. You have to seek them out, but companies are finally making them.

Insole inserts. Wife and I both dealt with it years ago. Podiatrist made custom fit insoles. Eventually it went away never to return. That was some serious stabbing pain

Get on stairs with heel hanging off. Stretch in both directions. Roll foot on frozen water bottle. Stay away from anything with heels. Brooks tennis shoes have been great for me.

I don’t push the philosophy on folks. I just ask them to do two things in their quest for their truth and resolve. Read a book called born to run and study a medical illustration of how many parts and nerves the foot is made lf.
