No team with three losses deserves to be in. Yep and 12 teams is too many in the playoffs too.
"Why do you ask"?

So Wisconsin and fsu are top tier teams?
Hard to look 5 years into the future and see what a team's record is going to be...contracts for a home-and-home series with Wisconsin and FSU were signed in 2019 He knows that. He’s just trying to be a much of a goober as he can. We have to play them to beef up our strength of schedule as long as we have to play the barn each year.

bama lost to two sub-500 teams, plus one "good" loss. that kept Bama OUT. nothing to do with SMU, or any other team with two or fewer losses. i am a Bama fan, by the way ...

They could go the Auburn route and play the bottom dwellers of the P4 conferences like Cal, or Washington State, etc. Don’t mean that as a slam but those are all the facts. With the message the committee sent that’s just smart scheduling now.
I'm an Auburn fan but they haven't exactly been a powerhouse the last 10 years. I mean who's to say that these teams aren't scheduling them as a low tier P4 SEC team.

So you are saying Bama didn’t earn it so they don’t deserve it right? But you are saying that SMU did deserve it and they earned it? How did they earn it by losing to every single top 25 team they faced? They did not beat one single ranked opponent. You can’t hold Alabama to one standard and other teams to another standard. I mean, you could… but it doesn’t make sense to.

So many years - we played clemson when they loaded - usc - and uga is a perennial top 5 - heck we recently had penn state - u had freaking badgers - so heck yea we need some easy - years of it - we still get uga every year and u guys and for years we had lsu at their peak - they average when we drop em

He’s just trying to be a much of a goober as he can. The comment was that auburn scheduled bottom dwellers like cal and Washington State, i know I'm a know nothing goober, but every Bama fan on here said fsu wasn't any good last year when they were, undefeated, and when was the last time Wisconsin played for anything???? Alabama had 4 times the talent of each team they lost to, and all the teams they beat, with the exception of maybe Georgia , smu had less talent then most teams they beat and lost to none they had more talent than. Bama has NO on feild claim to making playoffs. Only entitlement they they should be there just cause they're Bama, and that ain't no troll! Bottom line smu beat teams better than them, bamma lost to teams worse than them and beat zero that had more talent Talent level isn’t measurable. So that’s not a viable argument. SMU lost to every ranked opponent they faced. Those ranked opponents are not even in the top 15. So you just stated that they don’t have as much talent as the number 16 and 17 team in the country, and that’s a good reason to put them in the playoffs. That makes zero sense man. Your statement about Alabama insinuated that Alabama doesn’t routinely schedule tough OOC opponents. You compared their OOC opponents to Auburn’s. Comparing those two over the last 10 years is a joke. And you know it is. When Bama scheduled Wisconsin in 2019 they were something like 52-12 in the last 5 years. So you ask when was the last time Wisconsin played for anything. Well the answer is back when Bama scheduled them. They were first and second in their division each of those years and played in the cotton, rose, and orange bowl. And won 2 of them. Please tell me that you really know that Alabama routinely schedules tough OOC games and Auburn routinely does not. Maybe I gave you too much credit and you just don’t know. I genuinely thought you knew this and you were just trying to troll again.

I will say that our team has probably had one of the tougher schedules in the country over the last 10 years having to play LSU, Georgia and Bama every year, but we ain't been more than a spoiler in a while.

Someone needs to tell these recruiting sites talent isn't measurable. If it isn't please explain to me how Alabama has a top five recruiting class every year? What does 5* mean? Wisconsin was a 5 win team this year. Thats a fact. Alabama did not have a tough out of conference schedule this year and to suggest that's why they got left out is ridiculous. It has ZERO to do with it.i could easily explain that auburns out of conference schedule is no tougher or easier than bamas but I'm not saying auburn should be in. To say Bama should get in because they're a better team than smu is even more asinine than the out of conference schedule. Ole miss and sc are both probably better than smu, hell auburn probably is(should they get in?) It's not a stretch of the imagination to say if Bama could lose to vandy and ok that they could probably lose to any of the 12 teams ahead of them. Bottom line, Bama chooses to be in sec, win the games you play like everyone else has to and you get in. That's my opinion, you may not agree with it but I don't think it makes me a dumbass or a troll

That's laughable I don’t think ANYONE said Bama should get in because of their OOC schedule. If they did… then they are as much of a goober as you. What the AD at Alabama said was, if strength of schedule is not going to carry anymore weight than it did in the committee’s choice between Alabama and Souther Methodist, then Alabama was going to think about not scheduling any high ranking opponents for OOC games like they have done in the past. Saban always tried to schedule tougher teams especially that first game of the year. Which is hard to do when you are Alabama because who wants to play Alabama that doesn’t have to play Alabama. No one. And I explained to you earlier that when Alabama signed the contract to play Wisconsin they were a top ranked team. But you still ignored that fact. It came down to this man… the committee put more weight on alabama losing to Oklahoma than it did on Southern Methodist not beating a ranked opponent. So that tells you that Alabama’s win over Georgia, LSU, South Carolina, and Missouri didn’t mean as much as Southern Methodist’s win over Pitt and Louisville. (That’s the only 2 top 25 teams they beat. They were 2-2 in top 25 opponents) Here’s Bama’s tough OOC schedule from 07-22 Season Non-Conference P5 Opponent Result 2007 Florida State (in Jacksonville) Loss – 21-14 2008 Clemson (in Atlanta) Win – 34-10 2009 Virginia Tech (in Atlanta) Win – 34-24 2010 Penn State Win – 24-3 2010 at Duke Win – 62-13 2011 at Penn State Win – 27-11 2012 Michigan (in Arlington, TX) Win – 41-14 2013 Virginia Tech (in Atlanta) Win – 35-10 2014 West Virginia (in Atlanta) Win – 33-23 2015 Wisconsin (in Arlington, TX) Win – 35-17 2016 USC (in Arlington, TX) Win – 52-6 2017 Florida State (in Atlanta) Win – 24-7 2018 Louisville (in Orlando) Win – 51-14 2019 Duke (in Atlanta) Win – 42-3 2021 Miami (in Atlanta) Win – 44-13 2022 at Texas Win – 20-19

You know how many 5 star guys end up playing at the FCS level? You know how many times those recruiting sites get it wrong. A BUNCH. They are doing the best they can, but it’s not measurable enough or accurate enough to say that Bama has more talent than most teams they play. I can tell you of at least 6 positions right now that most SEC teams are better at than Bama. I’ve seen 3 star guys their jr year of HS look 10 times better than the sr 5 star guy that plays on the big time 7 on 7 team.

Clemson in the prime of their run. 2018 W Washington 2019 W Oregon Both of these were PAC12 teams who were middle of the pack at the time. Washington was the better of the two though so I will give them props. 2021 L Penn State 2022 L Penn State Again some props. This was a great home and home series. 2023 W CAL (yawn) 2024 L CAL (yawn) Like I said though, I didn't mean it as a slam. Whether you are playing a top tier or middle of the pack P4 team it's a boost to your SOS and much more entertaining that watching one of our state schools whip up on Mercer or Samford.

Scheduling is done years in advance with regard to home and home games, especially between the P4 conferences etc. The team you sign an agreement with at the end of this season, the one that was a powerhouse and 11-1, very well may loose half their team to the portal next year, and when you play them in year 3, they might be a 1-11 team and everyone will claim you scheduled a patsy. It will become the nature of the new beast that has been created. Will teams be penalized for it when it happens, through no fault of their own?

It’s happening so much now, I’m not so sure it will be as big an issue in the near future. That 11-1 team will lose 15 kids, get 15 new ones just as good for the most part, and still be pretty good because every other team is going through the same thing. I think you will also see the game get more vanilla because you are dealing with so many players new to the system each year. Unless something changes and contracts are brought into play.
