The Auburn football program faces a new challenge following its disappointing end to the 2024 season. Just hours after losing to Alabama in the Iron Bowl and being eliminated from bowl contention, two of its quarterbacks, Holden Geriner and Hank Brown, announced their intentions to enter the NCAA transfer portal.
What does this loss mean for Auburn?
Hank Brown, who started two games this season, showed flashes of talent but struggled with consistency, particularly in a game against Arkansas where he threw three first-half interceptions. Holden Geriner, on the other hand, had a quiet career, playing in eight games over three years and amassing only 116 passing yards. Both players are seeking fresh starts, leaving Auburn with a significant gap at the quarterback position.

Holden Geriner has made it known he will enter the portal. He will graduate after this semester and is moving on, good luck to him.

Hank Brown put out a message that he has not decided on entering the portal or not, this was several days back.

The portal is wild right now, multiple teams losing multiple players. Some are chasing the money, some are looking for a better situation.

Auburn also just signed the kid from Mississippi - Deuce Knight. That may have something to do with them leaving as well.

This means nothing for Auburn. Deuce knight just signed and they will go after either Arnold or Salter in the portal. The qb position will be fine and possibly the best it’s been since Nick Marshall. Which shouldn’t be hard because it’s been a decade of garbage QB play

I’d be plumb ashamed to tell people I let a high school kid run me out of a program I’ve gotten time invested in and experience with the system lol.

So yall are hanging your hopes on a high school kid who’s never taken an SEC snap? Not to mention he’s not as highly rated as you guys make him out to be. You guys are acting like you just signed the clone of Michael Vick or something. He’s a 4 star QB and if memory serves he was 7-8th overall in the QB position and 52nd nationally. I mean he may turn out to be a great player one day but if you are putting your eggs in a true freshman’s basket to take you to the promised land then the 25 team is already in trouble. Alabama signed the #2 QB who was also the #2 player overall nationally and I doubt he even sees the field next season.

The high school kid didn’t run them out of the program. I bet your paycheck the coaches did. They probably told them that they have a portal player coming in that they plan to start next year and the plan is for knight to follow him up.

I am not hanging my hopes on anyone. It just appears the writing is on the wall for the one who entered the portal (Griener) and also for the other who is considering it (Brown). If neither of them were any better than Thorne and could'nt beat him out for the job, then its not a big loss either way.

Walker White would be the starter as of today, but if they land a transfer QB then that will change. Deuce Knight is a great addition but not many true freshmen QB’s are ready to start. He will likely redshirt and the starting QB battle will be between White and said transfer. Hank Brown will probably go through spring camp, but if they land a transfer that is solid, I could see him going elsewhere. Brown has talent and will make some waves somewhere. I don’t think it’ll be in a Freeze type offense.

Freeze has built the program from the recruiting side of things but if he doesn’t produce in terms of wins next year, I can’t see him being around after 2025. You can only have so many good recruiting classes before it has to translate into wins. He’d be well served to find an offensive coordinator that builds the offense around the QB they have, not the QB they wish they had. Time will tell.

Hank said not entering - everyone will deal with it. I would guess bama will hav bettr players leave than auburn

AU needs 2 tackles badly and a stud qb. They will need at-least 1 portal DL for depth - probably 2 and the same for backer and maybe an experienced wr
The dlineman they just recruited are very good. Watched the crawford kid last night - so fat he is funny to watch. But on some plays he was practically taking the hand off 5 yards deep in the backfield. And he ran lacey down who is very fast multiple times. Crawford is like 330 pounds 🤣🤣🤣🤣😀 he has some potential

Awwwhhh 🤣🤣

Naw seriously with out rubbing it in - AU came up short on oline - good class - multiple publications say rank 6 - but dice flipping to gators hurt

Regardless, it spells another suck up season next year. No experienced QB, best running back in the conference gone. If I was Coleman, Id be transferring to Texas where there is the best QB in college football.

Never know what that portal situation may do. All it takes is a qb and all of a sudden the coach looks like a genius. Look what Jamison did for jimbo so u never know.

Auburn is going to bring a transfer qb to be the starter and another 1 to be the backup. Deuce has a lot of potential but he is pretty raw and needs 2 years before he's the starter
